Dane Whitehouse was that rarest of creatures, a player who played for the club he loved and grew up supporting, and was a true one club man. He wasn't a player in the truest sense of the word, as a player is more of a mecenary going wherever the money takes him, Dane Whitehouse was a supporters playing for the club. We was lucky to be blessed with a couple of others players of a similar ilk, Carl Bradshaw and Mitch Ward at the same time, i remember once reading that the other players at the club at the time nicknamed them the three amigos, because if you wronged one, you would have three of them on your back. Do we have anyone like that now?
The fact is that those words have come from Dane Whitehouse, a Sheffield United icon should have some serious gravity about them with the powers that be at the Lane, it is not just a case of a disgruntled supporters, but an iconic figure who usually stays relatively quiet, having his say, albeit via Social Media, and the powers that be should take heed from those wise words, as they have hit the nail firmly and squarely on the head.
