I don’t trust it either but don’t think it’s a scam, it has value because it’s not infinite. It will have more uses in years to come then it’s value will increase so I do believe it’s worth buying and holding a little bit. I think the big money bubble has burst for now.
A family member of mine started a crypto trading company 6 years ago with around £100k he sold 70% of it 2 years ago for £21 million (100% true) I laughed at the time when he told me what he was doing and thought he mite aswell just throw that £100k in the bin! Some people (the ones who really believed in it) have gotten very wealthy from it.

It's a weird business though and you have to question why alot of darkweb and criminal activity is using it. There are legit use of it too of course.
And people who manage to get Bitcoin or say Ethercoin early doors could have made millions. Like your family friend for instance.

I've had some bitcoin and still got some. Something like 0.4% of a coin so like £400 or something so I ain't getting rich anytime. But I always thought If I'd ended up holding life changing amount of money I would sell most of it. Because the wave of highs to lows have been massive and I don't trust that one day it just bottoms out and doesn't come back up much.

Because they got involved at the top of the pyramid.

Crypto is pure ponzi, those at the top make all the cash convincing others to invest.

Also youve people who have way too much power in the crypto space. Musk made a worthless entity worth something when he announced tesla would accept crypto.

This off course sent the price soaring.
