Crowds allowed into grounds in October..

Sadly a fair few seem to think that watching a game of football and drinking with pals should be a huge priority currently. In the grand scheme of things it's not. Sod the rest as long as I get to the match and have a few bevvies? The attitude of "those who don't want to go should stay at home and let me go to the games" does not work and is frankly selfish. Yes they can do that but those going WILL spread it to someone even if asymptomatic and so forth till someone vulnerable/older will get. I repeat not all vulnerable people are sat at home, old and waiting to the. Nearly 4 million was it in the high risk? We are not at the stage where opening up 10-20,000 crowds is smart or necessary. People thinking that those numbers attending large scale events even with the social distancing and rules, will not see an increase in transmission and then hospitalisation are kidding themselves.

Let me qualify it....

I love football and miss home games and away days so much. I love pre/post match and mixing with others. Being in heaving pubs / a packed crowd at the Lane is famtastic. Outside of my family it's the most important thing in my week/life. It is more than a game but at the moment it still does not seem that important and not the top priority personally. I hate the fact we may not set foot in the Lane for 6-12 months but I've come to accept it may be necessary in the long term.

Just my thoughts. No issues peoples disagreeing but the reality is attending games is probably off the agenda for a while with the announcements the last few days.
A good post and lots of aspects of appreciated by lots of people (and me)
I do think though, minimising people's concerns about an ongoing lockdown, to 'no ot caring' or just wanting to go to the boozer in unfair on a large proportion.
We have a situation where this could not go away for years. Postponing life and jobs through that time isn't a realistic option either for most people.
We can't fund furlough indefinitely, companies are closing, kids weren't being taught, hospital appointments cancelled, GP's shut etc etc. We have to get a sensible balance between protection, safety and continuing our lives.

Loving the 'ive never had a vaccine so fuck everyone else' brigade. Theyve also never lived. You couldnt go to south east asia or Africa without malaria ,hep b ,polio and tetanus vaccinations years ago ,would advise not now either. I never having been ill a brag ? Really ? Never broke a bone , never lived.

Good stuff.

Time to get crowds back at a low level at the very least.

Anyone any idea why this pilot doesn't include the PL?

It looks that crowds won,t be allowing in grounds. if we have a second wave of this covid 19.thats summat we going to have to put up with.just hope
That football can continue behind closed doors.at least that summat we can look forward too. otherwise, it will really mess things up.
I blame that Buffon of a prime minister.to slow to react to health advice from NHS etc. some young people 20-35 are to blame. don,t give a fuck and if I get it I,ll be alright. Attitude.

I think football behind closed doors will be fine as long as the testing is there and we have no cases. Problem is the 2nd wave is not caused by Covid. Its people thinking this is all over and they dont need to take care.

Full grounds were never going to happen this season anyway but having no fans will definitely impact us at home imho.

Classic Sheffield United really. We wait years for a decent team and to get back to the PL and only get to see part of one season.

Bad news for lower down though.

It's wank but thank God we are in the Premier League. Can you imagine the shit we would be in if we had missed out.

It's time people stopped burying their heads in the sand and saw who was really to blame for this pandemic spoiling things for us.

Who do we know with motive, a big axe to grind, and strong Chinese contacts....

I know everyone's in the same boat but I think our players last season thrived and played to their maximum last season with the blades support.

And look how the sides under fan pressure picked up when the booing stopped..

Boris suggesting 6 months of this and that's without the virus getting any worse! That takes us to March, I can't see any fans being present at all this season.

Well it will save me about 3 grand and as I'm not doing my 2 day a week job it will help our finances.

I'd rather be working and going to matches though :(

When you see the likes of Chelsea and Villa lobbing hundreds of millions about The Premier League is hardly going to gain much sympathy

Exactly.

Listening to the radio earlier they had a journo on talking about the PL helping the clubs down the leagues.

Good luck with that.
