Got to say not too bothered about monty but I think we could probably use creswell at some point this season. Looks as though they won't be going anywhere fast so we need to think of things they can do? cover the tills in the club shop?

Get em rattling the "Save Our Blades" buckets outside the ground on match days?

Can't comment on the Coventry game as I didn't go, but on Saturday I felt the lack of experience of the front two was clear to see. Cresswell's presence alongside one of them would have been a big benefit for helping them develop their game.

The worry for me is that the decision to leave Cresswell (and Monty) out is clearly not the manager's decision. Never an ideal situation in my opinion.

WTF??? i would like the club to come out and say how much we are in the shite? If West Ham still owe us £10m get them to f*ckin pay it. How much do these guys get for appearance money? plus you have to ask why we can not off load them.

These guys are on roughly 12k with all bonuses etc; They don't fit into how we should play football or however we want to progress as a club by bringing players through. My personal opinion is that I would even be happy to stay down another year if it actually mean't implementing our academy into the team. I know people will say they are not good enough, but neither are Cresswell or Monty (to suit how we want to play)

I am delighted our bench is so young and if I was McCabe I would insist that with all the money being spent on bringing youngsters through and not paying over the odds for a win it now mentality.

I know I am going to get the usually, but we will sell them etc; Just look at Southampton they sold loads and look at them now.

Because nobody wants to pay 12k, nobody! It is not rocket science. We have another year of this till they are gone.

I think we can ascertain that both Monty's and Cressy's contracts are quite heavily appearance based - as you would expect for, what in Creswell's case, is an ageing player.

If that's the case and it saves us a fair wedge then I really don't see the problem given that we are led to believe we need to cut the wage bill by X amount.

Cresswell might be able to offer us something but probably not 13k a weeks worth (so we're led to believe) if he's getting a start.

Monty has never been able to offer us what he's reportedly earning so makes no sense to put him in the team if it's going to cost us financially.

There may also be a game at play here to see if they'll hang around not playing or try to get a contract (albeit on much reduced terms) elsewhere if they want to play.

As I see it this could go a number of ways:

1 - They are sold before the end of the window.
2. They are sent out on loan.
3. They stay at the club and sit in the stands.
4, They stay at the club on renegotiated terms.

I feel that options 2 and 3 are the most likely, whereas 1 and 4 would be the preferable ones.

A pig mate of mine was on facebook last night saying that they can attract Barca B players and we can only dream of that. A blade then pointed out to him we grow our own, to which he said no one does that anymore they just buy talent.
If they think they can just keep doing that then they will be in admin before we are.
I have no problem paying Cresswell or Monty the sort of money reported IF they deserve it. Unfortunatley they dont.

Think we will end up doing something similar to the Adebayor deal that Spurs have just done with city subsidising his wages.

Better to pay them £5000 per week to play for someone else rather than £10000+ to not play for us

McCabe now meddling in team affairs - the ultimate humiliation for any manager and a complete disgrace.

Obviously I am delighted we may never see Monty again but we could do with Cresswell at times I am sure. McCabe sanctioned these signings so let em play if needed.

Also sickening listening to Blackwell summarising last night - the man who is responsible in a large degree for this situation

It's a very sensible decision by the club. Neither are first choices any more and in Monty's case he is hardly an impact player from the bench! I suspect DW has not been told "you can't pick them for your team" but rather "If they are not selected to play, we can't justify them being on the bench". That is sound common sense and sensible economics. It also gives us the chance to introduce more youngsters into the squad, which is actually what people have been advocating for years. Most of us think these two have outstayed their value in any event.

Much ado about nothing from some of our more volatile and less intelligent followers!

We've used that money by all accounts. Took out a loan from Santander to the value of that money. The payments will go straight to the bank. This is has been mentioned on here in various places.

Cresswell and Monty are on five figure sums according to popular belief, this is why they have to be sold. Falling out of the Championship apparently meant a loss of £4m in revenue. Its not rocket science that we cant afford these players anymore.....unless of course KM continues to pay for it.....that's a can of worms well and truly re-opened.

Sensible economics? Cresswell may help us go up. well worth a few win bonuses aint it? £20k a week sat in stands much ado about nothing? Bad comment mate.

This high and mighty attitude of yours does you no favours Pinchy - and why the !? Worse than Darren. By the way, what evidence have you for these converstions between McCabe and Wilson? None - thought so - same as me pal.

Can't imagine anyone wanting to buy them. I think we might have to pay to get rid of them

We will probably try and get fees for both of them that effectively pay off the rest of their contracts - as I recall, that's how we handled Hendo's move to Millwall. Anything less than that and we'd be just as well hanging onto them.

Come on Warnock - there's no way you'd have let that lead slip away last night if you'd have had Monty as an option to close out the game. Get him signed!

My guess is that Cresswell will be allowed to leave on a free transfer. Monty will be sold for a nominal fee.

patrick - you seem an OK bloke, sound of mind etc but you do undertsand don't you that they can just sit there and take the money? All they have to do is turn up training and visit hospitals etc as required under their contracts? I have no doubt Cresswell will be allowed to leave on a free, if he wants to go.

Reduced to a couple of hundred quid as "expert" RS summariser !!

Tells its own story.

Bring back king Edwards T Shirts available next home game :)

Correct - we want Keith. If anything should lead us to boycotting RS it is the employment of Blackwell. At least I may be able to sing Blackwell out again at an away game.

Imagine the players listening to his team talk and thinking this joker has not got a clue.

You also realise that they will want to play after this season so sitting doing fuck all isn't really an option if they had any brains. Short term thinkers hey

keith might have been golfing or trucking. He is much more preferable to blackwell. Remember when they had david holdsworth for a couple of matches? I thought he was pretty good

Yep - totally agree. If someone offered Monty say £4k a week for 3 years you would think he'd take it given stage of his career but I aint so sure. Who knows

Nice try. Obviously he aint going to accept the same terms over 3 years as he would get in 1. However if he signed a 3 year contract for 8k for example, we would pay the difference for this year only.

The example is more for cresswell who is 33/34. he won't get a 2 year contract off anyone at the end of this year and will struggle to pick up anything he wants. Take less over 2 years now.

Don't entirely agree McCabe is meddling Monty was not used by DW because he doesn't fit in anymore. Cresswell is replaceable with someone equally experienced (and cheaper) if needs be which I think DW would prefer to do.

We could do with Cresswell but he is becoming more and more unfit for use. The end of last season he seemed to be picking up more injuries.
