Coutts

Fucking gutted.

I'm still angry and raw but how can people defend that challenge?

I am 100 per cent certain it wasn't Sordell's intention to hurt anyone - but if you attempt to block an on rushing player with your studs at right angles a good foot and half off the ground then sorry - it's indefensible and he needs a ban for very dangerous play. Not the first time this season either.

Not enjoyed watching a footballer like watching Coutts ever at the lane - that's some praise. We're top, I trust Wilder to sort it and I trust we will strengthen in January but right now I can't celebrate being top - feels worse than any defeat this season. Gutted for Couttsy.

Great Idea YorkBlade - how do we get clips to you Foxy

The ball being 2 yards away from both of em at the point of impact should tell you all you need to know .

At best that's a dangerous late tackle made with the studs showing. At worst he's taken the player with absolutely no intention of getting the ball .

It’s 2 yards away because Coutts has just smacked it.

Just run me through why anyone at 2-1 down would deliberately ignore the ball and go for the man instead, while he's in the box.

I don’t doubt it’s dangerous but saying it’s a deliberate leg breaker makes no sense.

Get well soon Coutts. You are one of us.

And Coutts will be one of the first to acknowledge he is not the sole reason we are where we are. As hard as it seems we will not be stopped by this travesty, instead it will galvanise and if not with, we will certainly do it for Coutts.

I know what you mean. I think he's left his foot in there. But he's not generating force is he? Let's be perfectly honest, this is a saintly challenge compared to Morgan on Hume. I think it's an awful tackle. But you can't infer intent to break a limb.

I’m not inferring in any way, he deliberately went to break his leg, but I do believe he left his studs there for Coutts to follow through into to ‘leave one on him’ Sordell has his leg locked out, it would have been like hitting concrete.
I’m sorry, but if he was trying to block the shot, his foot would have been way lower and not coming at Coutts in a downward direction.
I’m sure Sordell will now feel awful about it, but that won’t help Coutts :(

Respect there.
Top man.
We're top of the league Ffs.let's kick on.utb

We're all from Sheffield. We're all shit on as a city. We need to drop this horribleness between both sets of fans and enjoy the competition between us. The best thing that can happen for the city is for both teams to go up. Obviously with them behind us.

Gutted to lose him but I’d be gutted to lose fleck, Sharp, Clarke, brooks, bash too. He’s very influential but we’re far from a one man team.

Hopefully he still play a huge part for the club behind the scenes. Glad he got his new contract in the summer would have been harsh for him not to have been rewarded if this had happened sooner.

Be nice to see him make a full recovery and we see him next season in the Premier League.

I also think he was honestly trying to block the shot but did it in the most incompetent and reckless way possible.
You know if you go in and block a shot with your studs up and leg locked there's only one possible outcome if there's any contact.

Jesus that picture, pigs have found of his leg bending ffs be lucky if he gets back from that by start of next season.

I've ended up editing many posts of the same picture into spoiler tags or removing them, could people please give the thread a read first before posting the same shot again and again?

Cheers.

I'm not saying it's a deliberate leg breaker . I'm saying this ....... again . At best it's a dangerous late tackle made with the studs showing . At worst it a deliberate challenge made on the player not the ball . Face facts , the ball is yards away at the point of impact so its late . Its a high challenge with the studs showing so its dangerous .

Do I for one minute think he's deliberately set out to break Coutts leg ? No , I don't . Do I think that that kind of challenge being made which subsequently leads to a broken leg is just plain bad luck , a fluke , entirely coincidental ? No , I don't . High late tackles made with the studs showing are classed as dangerous . They are classed as dangerous as they frequently lead to serious injuries .

Trying not to overreact but genuinely upset / concerned for the lad. What a horrible thing to happen. Probably in surgery right now. Just hope he plays again.

Seen em all Tom, awful, but to say it was deliberately OTT is an over reaction.

Sorry mate I miss read you post. Thought you was saying it didn't look broken.

Yes I agree with you mate. I watched it live and it just looked like a miss timed block

Why put the at worst bit then?

Appreciate what youre saying, but that kid of thing happens every game in football. It’s just very very unfortunate.

The still is an awful picture, Sordell should be banned for that tackle as the ref did fuck all about it. Pen, red card all day long.
