Brucey says he can go, hes perfect for us, come on BB you must just be trying to piss the entire forum off![/QUOTE

Nope..........you might be right....he might be a good signing but my opinion is i think he is too light weight and chicken.

Mind yer who's says the Blades will bring him to BDTBL ?

Chicken? How do you mean? Is he chicken 'cs he likes to rn at defenders and give Beattie and Sharp great balls in the box? Or is it because he enjoys going in for tackles?

That aint my post, it's BB's post, as you can see above mine is underneath, but BB made a mistake on his quote, so it shows it rather wierd like.

Wooooah, the thread is one quote behind

I just realised that, why does it come up like that then if i qouted BB

Ahh well, Cotterill would be quality for us in my opinion

Cotteril is class, young and amazingly fast, he did more in a game than keef did all season, beat the first man, and for me, the best winger we will have if he signs

While I agree he'd be a good signing, I still think Keef has a role to play. He wasn't good early in the year, but who was? He was one of the few who looked comfortable in the top flight, and we weren't playing wide for huge swathes of this year.

His wages would be the only reason why I'd not mind him moving on, and that assuming he's on a fortune.

Could turn out to be a good signing should we go in for him. From what i saw when he was at the Lane i was impressed, likes to run at the defenders and gets in the cross and as HH said wages could be the only problem.

Wasn't going to post again in here but I lied:D

I think I have to agree with Butcha. I didn't like him at first but he has won me round.

And beighton may be right about him being a bit "lightweight" in the tackle but if he can carry on getting at players like he does and putting good deliveries in then that'll be great!

What does it matter that he's a bit weak in the tackle? He's a winger, he's here to run at defenders and get crosses in, not play in front of the back 4.

That's often been an argument I've put forward regarding wingers. Didn't see George Best putting in too many tackles (except for on Rodney Marsh! :D) did we?

BB, I think you're approaching this from the wrong end!

'We can sign better' logically means you only sign the best! So, right-sided players:

Cotterill - We can sign better

Beckham - we can sign better

Bentley - we can sign better

Ronaldo - Probably the best, so better sign him, then!!

Doesn't work, does it????

Approach from the right end and ask the question, 'Is he better than what we have at the moment?'

I know Cotterill is a bit nesh in the tackle, but personally I would like to see our wide men running at the full back, beating him and getting good balls into the box for our strikers. Coterrill does this repeatedly.
Keef does not run at full backs anymore, he cuts back inside too much and you end up with a lofted cross rather than one in with pace.
I say (money/wages dependant) sign him.

Does it ?

Mind yer if £500,000 is the price Wigwam want Cotterill's worth buying even if he is chicken.

Sit back relax watch what happens this time round wi the transfer window at BDTBL it'll tell yer how AMBITIOUS McCabe is.

You keep saying that.
It's not just McCabe it the United PLC as a whole and they will do what is best for United not things to please a few people on a Forum who think they are unambitous.
If we went and bought big and ended up wasting money like Weeds did we could end up in real trouble, if we think about who we are buying and get the Right players (not neccessarily the big names) and balance the books then the long term furture of United will be assured.

I'd suggest Mr McCabes personal standing in this world in comparison to the rest of us gives us some insight as to how ambitious and competent as a person he is.

Think your confusing ambition with plowing loads of money into showpiece signings to be honest :)

Property portfollio McCabe is top notch and i applaud him.

Then pray tell, how in your opinion should he show ambition?

I was thinking more Jesus Christ up front, God himself as the midfield playmaker, Buddha - perhaps as one of his slimmer avatars - slotting into CB next to Killa, and the many-armed Vishnu keeping goal. Now THAT would be a team with ambition.

Nah, they're a bit past it mate.
:D

You dont appear to understand what everyone means - I agree Cotterill is perhaps a wee bit weak butas already stated, he is a winger after all

The thing to remember is Cotterill is proven in our squad - hes got assists, hes looked positive, hes added a bit of class and creativity and now Wigan are wiling to let him go I would snap him up

At such a young age he has even more potential!

Id rather see United appear unambitious because they are willing to sign a lesser player who is proven in our team as an impressive success that (in Leeds-esque fashion) throw some cash at a well-known player and take a gamble whether or not he will fit in and/or if he still has it at a much older ag than Cotts!

Now if thats unambitious - I kinda like it BB!

UTB
Lets bring in Cotts :D

Increasing the ground to a 33,000 seater which we filled in our Prem season (probably should have gone 50,000 eh BB?)

Developing off the field with links abroad in Europe, Asia & S.America (OK so maybe Barcelona for you BB but slightly different league to ourselves one thinks )

Creating and improving the brand SUFC with facilities like a spankin new hotel (what do you suggest BB? Perhaps leisure resorts in Dubai or gof 18-hole golf courses just off John Street )

Oh and another record breaking signing who proved a hit with the fans and a massive success on the field, an ex-England player and proven Premiership quality!

Maybe you are right - maybe its true - SUFC = NO AMBITION
(we should have gone for Torres)

 mmmmmmmmmm...... suppose if yer match the on field AMBITION with the off field AMBITION yer have a point !

Oh by the way the lack of on field AMBITION shown in the Premiership season was bordering on criminal for an ambitious club like the Blades.

Tell me my why was the investment in QUALITY players so poor ?
