I heard one expert saying April could be the peak with the warmer weather slowing things down after that point.

I just think it’s best to follow the government advice and see how things pan out. Making predictions whether they are optimistic or pessimistic aren’t helpful.

They themselves are saying things will escalate in a phased fashion first at risk( over 70's plus ill people possibly as soon as this week ) then to slow the peak further everyone else.

It is happening. The experts say late may and June are the peak. It will slowly retreat after that according to them. So if we are so far from the peak now and life is being disrupted it's clearly going to be on the other side of the peak too

I’ve just listen to a professor in viruses on sky news and he didn’t make any predictions, he said it’s a new virus so no one is really sure. He also said the increased UV during summer kills viruses.

I find it amazing that people with no knowledge in this field can choose to believe one expert but then dismiss the opinion of an other.

We’ve got the government advisers devising a strategy for the UK, but then another set of experts suggesting this strategy is wrong? How can the likes of me and you be sure of which expert will be correct?

After watching news at ten last night and the 1 o’clock bulletin today I think its time for a massive dose of reality check.

The football season is over, the FA cup is over, any chance of getting away at Easter or spring bank has gone.

I’m always an optimist but anything more than that is a bonus.

Look at Italy, France and Spain and tell me why it's going to be any different here please.

The thing that bothers me is how it's spread like wildfire in Spain & Italy, do they have older populations?

It seems inevitable that we will go into some form of similar lock down, but that doesn’t mean the peak is months away. Italy, France and Spain have been in lock down for a very short period of time, I honestly don’t know how you can start making predictions of what will happen in a few months time.

I am not. The experts are. The lock downs are all about flattening the peak. Pay attention...

According to reports in France a lot of the critical are in their 60s

but it’s important to point out that they all already had health problems before catching the virus.
it appears that the virus is much weaker than flu and doesn’t effect healthy people as much as common flu.
some sufferers think they‘ve got “a bit of a cold”, that’s why it’s more dangerous because it can easily be passed on to people in vulnerable groups.

The last few days have certainly seen a number of experts well-respected in the medical research field raise concerns at the delay in bringing in more stringent measures sooner – Anthony Costello is perhaps the most prominent of these. That has to be fair made me a bit more concerned. The disagreement though does seem to be on the timing aspect rather than the planned measures we’ll eventually be seeing, and how strongly the behavioural research should be taken into account in the response.

Regardless, at least there’s been a shift in the argument from previously whether it’s something that we should be taken seriously at all, to now whether what we’re doing is really enough.

No it didn't. Players are going to get this, and flu, and loads of other illnesses. There have always been sick players.

It's part of life. Just accept it.
This ain’t flu bud this is a virus that could kill over 500,000 in the UK alone accept it and look after yourself

I woke up yesterday with the symptoms and rang 111, don’t have a clue if I have it or not because I’m not getting tested, I’ve just been told to self isolate. It’s nothing like having “a bit of a cold” though, I feel shocking and the shortness of breath after a coughing fit is a bit scary.

We are not geared up for a Pandemic, nobody is by the look of it. Just rest up and take it easy for a week.

Look after yourself Nick, hope you're ok.

Good luck NJ, hope it goes well.

What an absolute w@nker he comes across there.
He’s in the 0-1% of the population who have been authorised to go home self isolate and stay away from work and he’s still moaning. And he’s lucky enough he can make a choice whether to ever work, see if he lives up to that promise when a big money offer from US comes in.

Stay safe and rest up Nick.
