A no brainer for Sharp and Bash tbh. The others not so much. Most difficult decision I'd imagine will be McGoldrick.

Per goal !?If we are to keep him it would have to be a pay as you play sort of deal.
I think its whether we’ll have the budget sadlyA no brainer for Sharp and Bash tbh. The others not so much. Most difficult decision I'd imagine will be McGoldrick.

If they do, they'll be incredibly rare. If we offered Didsy that, he'd just go to Preston/Millwall/Derby etc on a proper one year deal.Do those things even exist outside of people's imagination?
Several contracts are coming to an end next summer including Norwood and McBurnie and Ndiaye the year after.
Realistically a new contract does not stop anyone leaving but if nothing else it will increase the fee we receive. Hecky has mentioned offering new deals to certain players a few times this season and nothing seems to have happened. Not sure if there have been any more developments? Other than easing the short-term cash flow, I cannot see any benefit to delaying.
I believe we have the option to extend for a yearI thought mcburnie was out of contract this summer![]()
There's no benefit for us in delaying but there's a massive benefit for the player in delaying.Other than easing the short-term cash flow, I cannot see any benefit to delaying.
Great post which pretty well nails the situation. Also once players are given a reward for great performances they can lose their hunger and go back into their shell playing just OK.
Only 4, possibly 5, of those need tying down to new contracts.Amissah
Wes
Stevens
Robinson
O'Connell
Osborn
Fleck
Norwood
Couilbaly
Sharp
McBurnie
Big list![]()
I agree in part but I don’t think the answer is to sit on our hands and do nothing. Ndiaye will have plenty of suitors but a contract on improved terms with a buyout is realistic and would improve our current situation. There's no benefit for us in delaying but there's a massive benefit for the player in delaying.
For example if N'Diaye let's his contract run down then in 2024 he'll be able to join a PL club on £100K a week over 4 years.
That's a £20 million contract paid to him, so he'll be a millionaire and the club buying him as happy as there's no transfer fee.
Also to be honest the massive financial disparity and the big different in playing standard between the PL and Championship makes it so difficult to set things in stone.
Any player is going to assume we'll reach the PL so they're going to want massive pay rises.
However we might find younger, cheaper and better alternatives to what we already have, so it'll be a bit cat and mouse.
You only need to look at McBurnie, he's been robbing the club for much of his contract and not been up to standard even at Championship level.
Then he scores a goal away at Luton and then very quickly turns into Brian Deane with regular impressive dominant displays.
So what contract would you offer McBurnie when after the World Cup he could very easily return back to being Chris Porter.
Also once players are given a reward for great performances they can lose their hunger and go back into their shell playing just OK.
but in Ndiaye I see a player who is focused on making the most of himself and doing whatever it takes to get to the top. His attitude seems top class and I don’t think the money will push him into any comfort zone.
Offering is one thing, acceptance a very different beast !Several contracts are coming to an end next summer including Norwood and McBurnie and Ndiaye the year after.

Porter was ok and scored some crucial goals I recallThere's no benefit for us in delaying but there's a massive benefit for the player in delaying.

Just imagine what he’s going to get from training with the likes of Mane during the WC. I don’t think Iliman will get much game time, but the experience he will gain will be amazing for him & for us.Agree but I reckon Ndiaye is confident he can go very far....so we'll need to obliterate our salary cap to keep him otherwise he'll get big money elsewhere.
Really pleased for Illiman that it's all starting to take shape, his confidence must be growing each month and then he has the World Cup experience.
Remember 2 years ago when Wilder was asked who the best player at the club was, no one on this forum could guess what answer he gave.
However Wilder replied N'Diaye, which was remarkable as he'd not even played for the first team at that point.
Also what a weird strategy, we were deliberately refusing to play him in the PL, as it would put him in the shop window and then be able to leave on a free.
So we played hard ball and kind of forced him to sign a contract extension.
Then remember when Morgan Gibbs-White joined us on loan last season from PL Wolves, one of his 1st comments was about how good N'Diaye was in training.
For well over a season our players have been saying N'DIaye does incredible stuff in training and is our most talented player.
Apparently when there's 5 a side practice sessions, everyone wants to be on N'Diaye side as apparently he's easily the best 5 a side player at the club.
He's, thankfully built up strength and fitness for this season and now seems to be carrying over his performances in training to match days. Deserves all the plaudits.
Spot on. He receives some dreadful balls but manages to control and turn quickly, as well as using strength he appears not to have at first glance.Agree but I reckon Ndiaye is totally focussed and confident he can go to the top, so we'll need to obliterate our salary cap to keep him otherwise he'll get big money elsewhere. Running down your contract is fine if you have already enough money, but the risk for younger players is getting badly injured and having nowhere to go when the contract ends. There's no benefit for us in delaying but there's a massive benefit for the player in delaying.

We need to give Ndiaye whatever he wants IMO. He should be on parity with the top earners at the club because he is our top player.
I think he'll only sign a new deal if we insert a realistic release clause that will allow him to leave should a big club come in for him. I'd say £35-40m is reasonable which means he's not out priced of a move but we are also suitably compensated. Could maybe insert a clause that increases this to £50-60m if we get promoted.
