He reminded me of McDonald in the way that he found space and came and got the ball off the centre halves. By no means the same player as McDonald but equally happy to have the ball and looked comfortable with it. First half anyway. He faded a bit in the second.

Arhh crap don't say that, he'll be getting a chorus of boos from the Kop in no time. We don't want any footballers here!

I think the lad Dimaio did well. He kept it simple, moved it on and showed some neat touches and one or two adventurous balls. For a debut it was very good and looked like he had played for a while. However I cant give him more marks as he is young or never played before. I think 7.5 was fair. He did nothing spectacular in terms of assisting on goals, making chances, stopping goals/tackles etc but was steady to good with a lot of promise.

The last 30 minutes from the second half is missing on BladesPlayer, but based on what I saw I agree with you. From hearing about him being tenacious and the holding type I had expected him to be given a ball winner role in midfield (with McGinn in Doyle's role but it was the other way round, which may be sensible as McGinn will still primarily be back up for Coady and Scougall on Sunday ).

What impressed me the most about Dimaio was his natural technical ability, the way he controlled the ball with such ease and then looked up to find a teammate. He's clearly the type who've spent hours with the ball at his feet and doesn't have to concentrate a lot to make a good touch, he just does it naturally. He will have to bulk up, there will be games where he'll be put under more pressure and it's not true that he did not misplace a few passes. But looking beyond that, it was a highly impressive debut where he managed to show glimpses of real talent. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of him in the first team.

I thought he played well especially for a debut against a good strong side but I also feel a few Blades are getting a bit carried away. He was steady, showed for the ball and looked decent in possession but lets not put pressure on him and talk him up, let him develop and we should have a nice talent on our hands.
