A few rumours Blackburn way suggesting they'll be attempting to sign Jordan Slew tonight.

Not sure about that they look to have landed Yakubu.

Might be a controversial opinion, but if the money's in the millions, I'd snap their hands off.

Potential is potential... but we need money for a proven striker.

The money will be undisclosed, so its anyones guess.

We don't need the money for a striker, we just need a striker

I am not that impressed by what I have seen of Slew, but would be against selling him. He is very 'raw' and other than his pace, he has little else. His finishing is not great, he does not read the game well, he is light weight and his work rate is not brilliant. That said, there is no substitute for pace and if he works on his end game then he may yet be a good player. Raw pace can be turned into a real asset (Aron Lennon for example) but it usually takes time and even just raw pace can cause problems (Theo Walcott). Unfortunately I cannot help thinking Slew is another Jonathon Forte or Adrian Littlejohn.

However Slew has pace and that is something we don't have a lot of. Slew could be a real asset, strentching defences when coming on as a sub or even just causing problems from the start. He is also a young, Sheffield lad who has come from the academy and I would prefer to hold on to these. He needs to work on his final product and needs good coaching (such as telling him to run at defenders, rather than out wide) but Wilson and his team are experienced.

Despite the second paragraph, If someone came in with a mill or so then it would probably be difficult to turn down. His contract is only 2 years and it might be better to cash in on him if we can. I would however like to see how he progresses over the season and to see if he can rip a few third division defences apart at some stage.

Totally agree linz. What I have seen of him this season he hasnt done enough for me.

As there is absolutely no danger of us spending the money, then I would plump for keeping Slew and taking a risk on pacey potential turning into talent

Otherwise Its like going on Deal or no deal, taking the first offer that the banker puts up and then spending it on adopting a goat in africa. Complete waste of time

He's no good without henderson next to him ,similar to Kilgallon without Morgan

2217: Arsenal are not the only ones leaving it late. Reports are coming in from Ewood Park that Blackburn are trying to make last-ditch move for Sheffield United striker Jordan Slew.

just been on bbc sport website that Blackburn have bid 1 million.

Snatch their hands off if it means we keep Quinny. No way is Slew good enough for the Premier League. He might be one day but we don't need potential to get us out of this league, we need ability now.

If Blackburn want him then he's almost certainly far too good for this league. We should be hanging on to him and selling him next June, for 3 or 4 million. More short sighted bollocks from the board I'm afraid

There is absolutely no chance that he's currently too good for this league in my humble opinion.

If he sticks in 20 this season he'll be worth 3 million come June. If he doesn't then he'll probably still fetch a million next year

yeah cos no-one knows football like steve kean and the chicken sellers

absolutely effing typical

How much have you seen of Slew? What would you miss?

By itself, a bit of a shame. If it oils the wheel of decent signing / loan, potentially good business IMHO.

UTB

£1 million for someone that showed glimpses of promise last season, but is showing signs of struggling so far this season. I think Blackburn have paid more than his current worth.

This isn't a Naughton/Walker type of sale in my view - he simply hasn't been that good. He might make it at a Prem/Championship level, but I I personally don't think it'll happen. I am absolutely amazed that Blackburn have spent so much on him.

I think we've given him away on the cheap. Time will tell if he becomes a top player, but he must be impressing someone for a prem team to buy him. Expect him to go out on loan to a championship side.

Also we'll miss his pace. Pretty annoyed at a young prospect disappearing tbh.
