I asked about him in the SPL section of another forum and got this reply:

'Seen him a handful of times and was impressed by him, I'd take him. Think Hibs are after him but their bid was knocked back. He's a big and powerful target man really, got a fair bit of pace. His finishing is pretty average though, but I think his presence is what gets him the goals. Not going to turn around your team completely, put it that way. Reminds me of Nick Blackman actually.'

Sounds like he'd be an upgrade but not a season maker, basically. Still I'd like to see this come off.
 
I fail to see how anyone can describe a big and powerful target man then say: "[he] reminds me of Nick Blackman", who was nothing of the kind!

"If Nick Blackman was a big, powerful target man, which he wasn't, then Taylor would be just like him, which he isn't because he's big and powerful. But if he wasn't he would be like Nick Blackman 'cos he's mixed race or a kind of black!"

To be fair, it sounds like they have similar physiques, however Blackman never used his. He could be quite easily knocked off the ball.
 
I'll be interested to see how he gets on, I think there's better options available for cheaper personally but he seemed to do well at Falkirk so he might bring his momentum down here too.

From what I've read Taylor sounds similar to Blackman, Asaba, Slew and Bent, i.e. tallish, athletic and pacey, but not a back to goal target man and not great in the air.
 



Let's hope he signs and turns out somewhat better than our last "done a bit of modeling on the side" signing, the great Ashley Sestanovich... :cool:

I sincerely hope he's better than all of those, including Blackman, who was anonymous far too often!

Slew is not tall by the way! You must be confusing him with Ryan Shawcross.

The others are about right, Jim but we've all seen Slew! 5-10 at most.

I've always wanted to be 6 ft tall. If Slew is 6-3 (about the same as Kitson, for heavens sake!) then I'm happy.

Another opinion from up North:

'Best player in the First Division last year by a stretch, tbh. Falkirk would have been in a relegation battle if it wasn't for him. Questionable attitude, though - seems to go in a strop if things aren't going his way.'

Yakubu is supposedly 6" 0 and there's a definite lean forward from the 'big man' on the left ;)

What you're forgetting of course is that Slew left us when he was 18 and presumably was and maybe is still growing. So he might be 6' 3" now and wasn't then.
