Another poster (in the rumours section) claims to have seen him the at Shirecliffe. Adams says a prem player is close to signing.

Why the fuck would anyone be againt Bent coming to the club??

At the moment we have the following options:
- Ched Evans, currently scoring a goal every 5 or 6 games
- Bogdanovic - Malta's finest hasn't really been given much of a chance but he's bagged only 3 goals this season and hardly looked convincing
- Cresswell, who couldn't hit a barn door at the moment. This season he has scored 1 in 5.
- Henderson - crocked (though I'd love to see him play under Adams and think he could resuce our season).

Sure Bent would want high wages and he is a bit of a tosser, but he ios streets aherad of what we have got. A manager like Adams would get the best out of Bent (like Warnock did). Bent is quick, string and knows where the net is. This is a no brainer. As puppet says, when he has banged in 5 goals in 4 games then people will change their tune. Blades fans turning their noses up at Bent is the equivalent of an average Prem team, saying they don't want Joey Barton because he is a tosser!? Get him signed Micky!!!

Bent is quick, strong and knows where the net is.

This applied to Marcus Bent in January 2000.

I am not sure it applies to Marcus Bent in January 2011. He has played only a handful of games in the last 2 seasons and has not scored since February 2009. I understand he has had injury problems - the last thing we need is another crock.

In addition, he is exactly the type of expensive mercenary that Adams said he did not want to sign in an interview a few days ago.

I am therefore of the view that the case for signing Bent is as cleat cut as you make out.

He hasn't played for us in 11 years, but even so, this is a worthless statistic as his performance in 1999 to 2001 tells us nothing. If this is a good reason to sign him we should also be looking at Keith Edwards.

My problem is that he's not played for so long, he's going to need some time to get match fit, and even then there's no guarantee he'll do the business. Because he's on high wages, it's imperative that he scores, and scores regularly. If his wages are so high that we can't afford other players, then I think it might be too big a risk. We're always throwing our eggs into one basket, and we're always paying the price for it.

Having said that, I'd love him to do it for us. I liked him as a player the first time round, and have been wanting him to return for a while now (assuming we could afford it). And one thing nobody has mentioned yet... Micky Adams has worked with him before. He was at Leicester, and bagged 10 in about 30 games.
