we are officially a laughing stock.. maccabe should have sacked himself.. j.christ would have trouble sorting this one out.. mind you i reckon mourinho would do ok:D

What's the requirement for official laughing stock status? I'd sooner achieve this than keep on with a manager that could only manage 4 wins in 24 games. Now that is laughable.

Mark Yeates is another bastard cheatng a wage out of this club along with Cresswell thats two cheating us for a start.

> What's the requirement for official laughing stock status
says 5 managers in one season in the spec. :-)

McCabe must have got a job lot of P45's cheap.

No point sacking Adams if we're going to keep Trevor Birch though.

Never a dull moment, is there?

The job gets more attractive by the minute. Just who, in their right mind, would come and work for this shower?

On SSN now.

Suggests Adams has left and has not been sacked although nothing concrete.

Edit - SSN Strap Line now says UTD have SACKED Adams.

Now officially announced...

Sheffield United have parted company with Micky Adams.

Despite a spirited end to the season the Blades fell into League One with one fixture remaining and Adams and his assistant Alan Cork have been relived of their duties.

PLC Chairman Kevin McCabe held talks with the United manager on Monday, indicating that discussions would continue and a decision announced in due course.

This was confirmed today and Adams and Cork, who were appointed at the beginning of this year, have left the club.

"It is always difficult when managers leave because usually it occurs when a team has been in trouble, but this decision has been made as amicably as possible between us all," said McCabe, adding:

"Micky is an honourable, hard-working and honest man who has had difficult circumstances to deal with from the moment he came in. The task was a big one and no-one, least of all myself, can criticise the effort he and Alan put in to turn around what was already an awkward season for us.

"He made it clear that he wanted the chance to lead us next season but the fact remains that we have been relegated. There will have to be changes in player personnel in the summer, young players will have to be given their opportunities at the right time, and prudent recruitment implemented for what will be a really tough division to get out of.

"With that in mind I feel that in order to give ourselves the best opportunity we should make a clean sweep at the top and start afresh next season."

The Blades Chairman must now turn his attention to his next crucial appointment but his departing manager paid him a huge compliment despite seeing his own tenure halted.

"Obviously I am very, very disappointed with the decision but I still wish Sheffield United all the best. I am a Blade and will always be a Blade so I am just sorry that my move here has not worked out," said Micky Adams, adding:

"I pass on my thanks to the fans and would still like to think that they regard me as one of them. To carry the support of so many of them in some pretty dark days was very much appreciated.

"But most of all I wish the McCabes well because if anyone deserves success it is Kevin and his family."

If Mr McCabe gets this one right it could go a hell of a long way towards compensating for the complete shambles he's been in charge of since the play-offs.

No pressure then, Kevin.

Some decent managers out there BUT who can we realisticly afford?

cheats??

Mark Yeates is another bastard cheatng a wage out of this club along with Cresswell thats two cheating us for a start.

just because that useless dipstick came out with some poor mans warnock comments about people cheating this club..... i'll tell you who cheated it... the idiot who came in won 4 in 24 and took us from flirting with relegation to being well and truly done for with half a dozen games to go....

he brought in bent, he continued to pick nosworthy. now, i dont recall seeing them give less than they were capable of they just werent very good. nos would be class one minute, crap the next. bent looked the same as he did when he left, from the stands, but was physically incapable of performing like the zippy 21 year old we had in 2000. cresswell did his best but playing on his own upfront or or expected to be a zippy left winger, yeates we signed with high expectations but foundered on what - the fact that he looked like the best player in a crap team against us previously? its been said time and again but this season mirrored the late 70s so much its not true. we've taken a team of half decent to lower premiership standard players and not replaced them to the same standard - that can only result in a crap team and lower league positions. and it has. adams has gone and we're left now with two more idiots on the wage bill for two years apiece who are simply not good enough in doyle and collins. lets hope that clown gets ajob as soon as possible and has the decency to come and waste another clubs scarce funds on them.

mccabe is he one ultimately to blame overall though - did his building companies suffer from such inept delegation of duties as SUFC have since the introduction of robinson, birch et al?

UTB

Oh dear.....we need stability. Yes, Adams was shit but I was willing to let him have at least 10-12 games next term. We must move quickly because any decent players we might want to sign or who might want to sign for us will be snapped up sharply.

I see the official announcement mentions that Cork has gone, but hasn't mentioned that our excellent footballing consultant has also been relieved of his duties. Is Dave Bassett our Kenny Dalglish? I've given it some thought - probably not...

I'm actually glad this has happened. We need to forget this season now, as hard as that will be, and start afresh asap.

New man in charge, a summer to get his players in to fit around the players we will retain, and then get us out of this huge bloody mess we are in.

Sounds very easy, but we all know deep down that it isn't, so with the new season in mind, time and stability are key, and I can only hope McCabe has learnt this, and will stick to it.

But then what happens if we get off to a poor start?

Do the new man get turfed out in December, and then we are scratching around for another panic appointment.

All this talk about the next manger being sacked in 6 months is crap. McCabe has shown with Warnock that if the manger fulfills the requirements, i.e win or draw the majority of game etc... he won't sack them. It is only since Warnock left that we have been in this situation but it doesn't help with some bad decisions in chosing the manager. Maybe McCabe will make the right choice this time i.e 6th time lucky :)

I think it is the right decision to sack Adams. 4 wins is not good enough and he failed to keep us up

If he was to have stayed, I'd have stuck with him for a while season to be honest - this give him a transfer window and 10 or 12 games doesn't work I'm afraid.

Anyway, he's gone. Good luck to the bloke.

Indeed. If the board had any doubts, best this decision was made now than August. Which is what we should have done with Blackwell.

No, we simply can't afford to do that, it completely goes against what this club should be trying to avoid, but I of course know what you are saying, it's too easy to go that way, and it has cost us big time this season.

Also; we only sacked Blackwell and Adams. Speed left for a better opportunity and Carter was only a caretaker manager.

It was a very sad indicator of the state the club was in when Speed buggered off to manager the leek-eating sheep botherers

You know, mccabe was very indignant in his interview about how we'd given Speed the job and he couldnt have predicted his moving..... yet Wales were looking for a manager at the time... and we were very quick to give him the chance to speak to them and arrange compensation. His appointment was almost like a short term fix to make money in my opinion
