Ey up, I've done a cunning spreadsheet that looks at....
1) Table positions if the only thing that mattered was squad values (as per Transfermarkt)
2) Actual table positions (with one game to go)
3) The difference between 1) and 2) for each club -The 'value add'
OK- I know you could argue this is a dodgy analysis for various reasons but it does suggest that the Blades, Norwich and Preston are arguably the best performers in the league this year. Also it suggests that Stoke and Reading have arguably underperformed most. I figure clubs that come down from the Premier league are likely to get a lowish score in this kind of analysis cos they're probably lumbered with a fair number of overpaid but underperforming players.
