And this was me doing it for 'War Cry'. 1917.

Mea culpa! Well, not really. Before home games, I've already done 3 graphs for win, draw & lose. Trouble was, when I got home, this poxy site wasn't letting me upload files, so I did a quick screen-grab of the spreadsheet & didn't notice that I hadn't altered the projection/projection line accordingly. Sort it out, Foxy & Linz. :D

However, by way of apology (for Foxy & Linz :D), and just for Sitters, here's the first 30 games from last season & the managers (The 13/14 column is the accumulated points):

Yesterday was Game 9 and last season we still had one more game to suffer under Weir before Morgs steadied the ship and we prepared for blast-off under NC. The sixteen points we now have took us until Game 18 last season...

In our game against bristol City, at home, last year we won, this year we lost hence we are on -3 points compared to last season.

We then Won at Peterborough andat home to crawley, which were drws last year, so from -3 we go to +1

We won at Colchester last season, so no change there

We have only played Rochdale who weren`t in this division last year. In our games against the 4 relegated teams at home we gained 12 points i.e. 3 points per game. We beat Rochdale so again no change.

The "system" (and I use the term loosely) is based on the teams, not their positions, substituing an average for the teams moving up and down the divisons.

Our next 5 games give us an opportunity to improve on our 1 point gain as last season our points haul was:

SEP 20 Swindon (A) 0.00
SEP 27 Gillingham (H) 0.00
OCT 4 Chesterfield (A) 0.50
OCT 11 Leyton Orient (H) 1.00
OCT 18 Bradford (A) 0.00

Lost to Swindon (0), beat Gills (+3) and lost to Chez (-.5) meaning we are +3.5 on last season in the equivalent games.

As we have played 5 of the current top 6 and 4 of these have been away from home then I don't think we are actually doing too badly. We finished 7th last season and at this stage we've had some tough games and have 3 points more than the equivalent games. Chesterfield (and maybe Swindon) might drop away, but Brizzle, Posh and Preston will stay. I think comparatively we are not doing so bad. I am still unconvinced that we are good enough to go up, but things need to be put into perspective. We're a few players away from being top 2 material, but we saw last season that the right loans could propel us on.

Looks like it's still fucked.

On the current points per game we'd end up on 71 points.

True. I've been preparing three charts - win, lose, draw for use after the latest game. I've been having trouble uploading the file to this site so have rushed a quick copy & paste jobbie where basic errors have been made. Won't happen again!

Needed that. Been listening on RS and - even when Bradford were down to ten men - we could have blown it. Still, another 3 points on Tuesday and game on. Very nearly 2k Blades there as well. Sheffield double. :D

First half? What first half? :(

We are now 8.17 points ahead of games against the same opposition las year. Extrapolated across the season this would leaveus 28.9 points ahead of where we finished last year...

which is a whopping 96 points and sure fire automatic promotion.

For confirmation we:
drew vs Orient, same as last season (-) = +3.5
beat Bradford when we lost last seaon (+3) +6.5
beat relegated Yeovil (+1.67*) = 8.17

I said a few weeks ago that we actually weren't doing that bad, as we had played 5 of the top 6. Suddenly a couple of results against poor teams and things look completely different. We've still got 3 of the bottom 4 to play and most of the bottom half of the table. There's still a few potentially tricky ties, but to say we are not playing brilliantly then we are actually in a good position. I am not convinced we are any better than teams like MK Dons, Preston and Swindon, but think we are still in with a good shout of automatic.

Patience! Last three games, 9 points, none conceded. One of those 'mini breaks' that could lead us to the sunny uplands next May! :)

Can we have a line for runners up just in case we aren't champs. :)
I don't care how we go up, but this division is killing me.

Fuck me! I do have other things to do, you know!
Stats to keep you going. Today's (Game 14) and 26 points. Last season, it was Game 26 before we reached 26 points (and no, NC did not set the world on fire from his first game).

and finally...

upload_2014-10-25_18-25-26.png

I like these trends, the only caveat being that of course that currently there are 4(?) teams ahead of us at the moment who have better/same point projections!

We haven't scored more than 3 goals in a league match for almost two years now.

17 November 2012

Sheffield United 4-1 Stevanage
Collins 19'
Miller 55', 70'
Porter 87'

It's coming. By sheer force of the number of chances we create in most games, we'll rattle up a big score soon.

Maybe...
