Clough's record thus far

Weir really cost us.

Thanks for that Darren I was wondering what the season total might have been

when you consider Clough had to build belief and confidence back up its more effective just using the second half of the season as a guide where we will get 40 , or if we win saturday 43 points , double that and you get 86 points , and thats with out any, strikers of note, if we do improve on that the futures bright

That's quite a shocking stat.

If we'd had Clough from the start of the season we'd only be two places higher!

You need to look at things after the Crewe game as that was the turning point.

The record since Crewe is P18 W11 D5 L2. 38 points from 18 games means a PPG of 2.11 Extrapolated over the season then that is 97 points! It should be noted that 18 is a small sample size though and we might not have been expected to continue that sort of form.

Look at the table after Crewe* (2nd bottom, 27 points and in real trouble, then compare to now** (where we sit 8th). This 18 game run has been title winning form for sure.

But would be comfortably in the play off :)

The season really breaks down into 3:

1. Weir's reign: 10 games W1 D2 L 7 relegation certainties
2. Initially Morgan and then Clough sorting out Weir's mess up to 1st Feb 17 games W5 D6 L6: lower mid table form
3. Clough after 1st Feb: 18 games W11 D5 L2 automatic promotion form.

I agree with this, Cloughie has had 2 difficult spells to deal with.

- 3 points from 3 games when he arrived - sorting the shit and the indiscipline out
- 1 point from 4 games in January (including the Crewe disaster on Feb1) whilst he re-shaped the squad - casting away the indisciplined and the feckless, bringing in the brave and industrious and inspiring the ones still damaged by Weir

It's nothing short of a miracle to my eyes, let's see what he can do with a bit of cash.

An excellent game with great hope for the future!

Late goals tally has picked up...

Just seven points in the end:

Right, it's getting near that time again! Obviously, we cannot fail to be ahead compared to last season, so no room for false optimism.

To test the chart, I've made up scores for the first ten games. Given a very modest 15 points from ten games, comparing it to last season shows the full extent of the damage Weir inflicted. The yellow (First) and blue (sixth) are the targets, based on a ten-year average. The dotted line is a trend line.

Suggestions? Likes? M & S Vouchers?

It's wank, start again from scratch.

;)

Bloody hell I have been trying to forget how wank Weir was.

Oh yes. Ten League games, 5 points (including 3 against Notts County who were down to ten men after 15 minutes) :(

Dumped out of Crapital One Cup by Burton.

Heroic 0-0 draw at Scunny in Johnstone's Paint Pot.

If ever a manager should have been on a monthly contract...

Can we have a relegation zone averages section too please? ;)

Let's not forget the monumental 1-1 home draw with Crawley.
