I;m going to se if I can change tht last graph to represent current Home/Away form - as others have said in the past - a trip to Brentford is a lot more daunting that the average last 8 including away games might suggest

Managed it (2nd Attempt) - the games don't look that much different in terms of run in - Easter Monday looks like a humdinger for both teams...

Probably the day the 'auto' dream died (although it was probably the home defeat v Bristol):

No point labouring on 'The Gap' - 20 points tells its own story. Just as we hoped to be hitting our stride, 5 points out of the last 12 for us isn't remotely good enough:

Us and Leeds win our last 3 and the 6 fingered yokels to draw their last 3 that would do me :p:p

Another stunning day for those unstoppable Blades:

Yes, Leeds are still playing at Brentford (who have just gone 1-0 up (Maupay) before half-time, but we'll still be second at 19.00 tonight:

Those delusional twats (God are they hurting tonight) still think they can make the play-offs. They can. If the other teams don't play:

Still 'only' 22 points in this piss-poor division:

To go from bottom of the league (admittedly only after game 2) to pushing autos and still in with a chance of top spot... that's pretty special. That's the sign of a solid team spirit and a manager who can motivate. I can't remember having that spirit in the Bassett or Warnock eras (and that's as far back as I go). Maybe the Warnock teams never gave in but I don't remember recovering from setback quite so easily as we seem to be able to do under Wilder.

grafikhaus . many thanks for your efforts in posting this stuff. Really interesting. A new challenge for next season I guess.

FWIW

2017/2018
Goals for 62
Goals against 55

2018/2019 (after 45 games)
Goals for 76
Gaols against 39

So an equal improvement going forward and at the back, achieved with a mixture of new signings and improvement of the players already here

Might need a new thread in August

Good point. :(

While I think it's turned out to be a useful exercise - going all the way back to the 2012-13 season and charting our many ups and downs over this exciting period - comparing next season in the PL with this marvellous season is going to prove inaccurate.

New thread? What about 'How the fuck are we going to get 40 points?' :D

I'm working on it...

How about "How to avoid a Warnock" and compare us to this season's Cardiff who look to be claiming the last relegation spot despite being respectable, and ourselves last time we were in the Prem.

When the fixture list comes out you need to create a forecast for every game so that it generates 40 points, and then you can show if we are above or below that each week. In fact you could do more optimistic forecasts for 50 and 60 points as well. That way the comparison is against specific teams played rather than just number of games.

Compared with our last season in the Prem should be the way to go.

A 2 nil win on Sunday would bring a nice equilibrium to those numbers

Thanks for all your consistent efforts on this. Though I tended to not look when we lost!

Good to see we were ahead of the 'Older, Bigger, Better' ones since week two.

Be good to perhaps see something on attendance maybe to see the difference being in the top flight is.

Great job anyway and thanks!

Just had a look at the Premier League tables from 2006/07 to present and only once have teams been relegated on a higher or equal points total than our 38 points in 06/07. This was Birmingham and Blackpool who both finished on 39 points each in 2010/11.

So if it’s a comparison between our last Premier League season, I’d say that would give us a good indication on if we are on track to survive or not. Since 10/11 the top 6 have got even stronger which is bringing down the survival points minimum.

So who will be next seasons Charlton, Blackburn, Portsmouth and...Bolton? (all in the PL in 2006-07. Bolton finished seventh.)

Obviously the teams will be different so blade67 would not be able to do his version (until our second season in the Prem). However as yours is just a points by points comparison then comparing our points haul next season to our last in the Prem (where we had similar expectations and came up just short) seems to work for me - irrespective of who our respective opponents are.

I’ve said before, but i do love checking this thread after our games, so thanks grafikhaus

I’m sure you’ll have your own ideas for next year, but a track again the last 2 seasons bottom 4 would be interesting indication of our ongoing progress and likely chances of survival.

grafikhaus thanks for all the comparisons. Much appreciated. If you take everything on board you'll need a mega TV screen to view it!

grafikhaus thanks for all the graphs you have provided us with this season!

In conclusion with compared with last season: In, Year, Out, Cya

You ain't seen nuthin' yet. Look out for the last one of the season, this Sunday or (if I get pissed), Monday. :) Ditto Roygbiv and everyone else.

...for just the first two games, and never last season (2017-18). Not bad for a pub team.
