Compared with last season...

Was on hol (alert!) last week so wasn't able to update mine but here we go after Saturday:

upload_2015-10-12_11-20-29.png

High: 29 - Wolves 2014
Low: 19 - Norwich 2010, Scunthorpe 2007

Just a really uninteresting point - the teams that went on to win the league that led the table after 12 games were Bristol City in 2015, Charlton in 2012 and Brighton 2011. Outside of that these were the leaders after 12 games in previous years:

2014 - Leyton Orient (32 pts) - finished 3rd - lost in Play Off Final- look where they are now!
2013 - Tranmere Rovers (30) - finished 11th - look where they are now!
2010 - Leeds United (30) - finished runners up
2009 - Scunthorpe United (26) - finished 6th - won play off final
2008 - Leyton Orient (23) - finished 20th with 51 points and missed out being relegated by 4 points!
2007 - Notingham Forest (25) - finished 4th - lost in play off semi final
2006 - Swansea City (26) - finished 6th - lost in play off final - look where they are now!

For what it's worth... Groundhog Day. Or worse...

After we've been to Barnsley on 28 Nov we need to have about 49 points if we are serious about automatic.

By the time the Jan window closes and we face Wigan we will need to have about 63 pints.

That's only 8 points better than we are doing by Wigan in 16 games.

Easy in theory but my guess is that we will need something like 12 points to catch up by the Wigan game.

I just hope we are not looking back in Feb thinking it was so do able.

After Saturdays game. I think that given that only Gillingham are currently above the average (and they are only the median), unless a club goes on a spectacular run then I think this year will be below average.

upload_2015-10-19_12-19-51.png

High - 32 (Wolves 2014)
Low - 19 (Norwich 2010)

Just a note on that Norwich season, they went on a 14 game unbeaten run from game 14 which included 12 victories and 2 draws. Wolves won 8 on the trot from games 25 to 33. It is that sort of run that will be needed.

Here we go...

And while I'm at it (and bored) here's a breakdown of when we've scored (and conceded) so far:

upload_2015-10-21_3-22-52.png

So we've scored 44% of our goals between 61 and 75 mins. Fascinating stuff...:D

Speaking of goals, it would be interesting to know how we compare with goals scored to last season. Although the points totals are similar, at least we are playing more entertaining football and seeing more goals.

Got to be loads better off than last season, we scored a total of 66 goals and we're already on 25 after 14 games.

We are on track to hit 49 points by Covenrty instead of Barnsley, move work to be done but at least it's only one game out.

Last season after 14 games, we'd scored 22 and conceded 18. This season 25 - 19. If that's what you mean?

Yeah that's it, a bit surprised we're only 3 goals better off than last season. But it also highlights that our goal scoring got worse as the season went on.

Goals per game averages:

This season - 1.78
Last season (after 14) - 1.57
Last season (remaining 32) - 1.37

Although points are the key to promotion, if we can keep our goals per game average high we should hopefully get the line on your points graph the right way round.

Updated after last night:

High: 35 (Wolves - 2014)
Low: 22 (Norwich - 2010, Scunthorpe - 2007)

Not wishing to be picky, but I don`t care if we win the league, I only care that we go up.

Can we have a similar graph for 2nd place?
I've actually started to put one together for 3rd place (the theory being we need to get one point more than 3rd place to finish 2nd - cue the pendantics who will talk about goal difference :) ). Not had chance to finish but if a get a hour over next few days, will look at it.

Amazing how hard a loss can hit.

We have five games or 15 points to the Barnsley game and if we win them all we wil be 10, yes 10 points off automatic target. That does reduce to 9 by Wigan so you can argue we've only dropped a point today from where we were Friday.

The reality that we will be12 short by Wigan is looking more likely.

Sorry for the delay - fucking hard drive packed in. Anyway, I thought it was a carbon-copy of the Bury game. They smash J C-R early on, get away with it and carry on regardless. Ref. was utterly shit, United not much better and I'd only pay J C-R and Baxter based on that performance. Weird substitutions (yes, bring Baxter on but don't pull Done off - just stop playing him with one foot in the John Street stand...)

Normal service resumed!

So last season we won game 16 and then took 4 points from the next 6 games. I will join the suicide brigade (or meltown Friday brigade) if we only take 7 from next 7 this season. :)

No easy way to say this but that is absolutely unforgiveable:

We're not talking about a freak result here, but an ongoing trend. I'm not bothered if people say I'm impatient. All I know is that Adkins is not the answer. Jamie Murphy scored (again), Wigan have just got a winner in the sixth minute of extra time, what more proof do we need that this club is rotten from the top down?

Our projected 62 points would have seen us finish in 12th place last season (although I can't imagine where another 35 points are coming from...)

Hi

Is there any chance you could produce the chart with the relegation points? I reckon that is going to be pretty pertinent in 6 weeks# time.
