As a supporter of some years I feel I can reflect somewhat on the season that we have just had. I know for some of you, going into League One with our neighbours is not what you signed up for.Perhaps you are too young to remember the last time we were there and perhaps you might just not remember that once upon a time we actually went into a league even lower.
You may not remember managers such as Harry Haslam,Jimmy Sirrell( now he was a character), Martin Peters, to name but a few. Then there were the Chairman. (And boy have we had some characters)
We also had a three sided ground at one stage, that was depressing.
So now we are at another crossroads. We have overpaid players, we have tried to run a Championship club paying Premiership wages, we have 'adopted' clubs abroard and now when it's all gone awry, we have to reassess and start again.
We now have to put our faith back into Sheffield United. It's no good saying to McCabe he has to invest money when we won't invest in a season ticket. I don't know what sales are up to now but it seems that nearly a third of Utd season ticket holders have not renewed.
Ok money is tight.....please don't shoot me down...we all have choices to make...but then so could McCabe. He could just walk away, he could decide not to reinvest and yes he has got a lot of things wrong, but he won't be the first Chairman of a football club who has done this...look at Southampton, Leeds, Forest and our neighbours, and he won't be the last.
Come on, lets get behind the Blades, just like we did at the last match of the season because its a times like these that we need to be Blades and be strong.
