Collins approach to Long was a disgrace

I'm not one for strong comment, but the way Collins turned on Long after the first goal mess up was disgusting. Long needed a reassuring word from a senior pro, not a bollocking from someone who hasn't played for ages. It shot his confidence and that of the whole defence, who all lost faith after the first five minutes.

If the defence were like rocks then fair enough but they were awful too..

Collins you need to apologise....
 



Agree with this completely. Long is such a confidence player and it didn't feel warranted after five minutes in. Collins should know better.

Collins should not be playing in the first place . Simple as that . Long should also not be playing .

I agree but, it was just after long took what felt like 30mins to kick the pass back which nearly led to a stupid goal
 
Collins is a symptom of why we are where we are he is a shit centre half and isn't getting any younger, always looks to blame others - the sooner shit and dross like this are moved on from us and replaced with better we will constantly struggle. One of the most perplexing things about some Blades fans is when a player is out of favour for being shit like Collins last year the better out they are made to be. I'll spell it out -if that back 5 plays the majority of our games we will be closer to the bottom than the top in May.
 
Is Collins not one of our player mentors or whatever they're called due to his attitude and professionalism?

agree with this summary of Collins. Not very good, never has been, got lucky playing alongside Maguire for two years that extended his career at this level - got found out last season. He's only getting support because neither the last manager nor this one can sign a decent (or for that matter, any) replacement. Perhaps after today that'll change. As for Long, I imagine that Howard will be back between the sticks by next Satdy
 
One of the radio commentators repeatedly voiced his disapproval of the shouting at Long - that it hinders rather than helps some players and the defence should know that... Said commentator was most definitely not amused by what he was seeing!

Collins attitude has always been bad from what I've seen on the pitch. He always looks to blame others when something goes wrong or when he cocks up.

I can't believe 5 seasons later he is still lining up as our first choice centre half.
 
I might have said this before but I'd heard Collins was a 'bad egg' and this is probably a reason why. Probably not the reason Clough kicked him out as he employed the same man management tactics.
I'm hoping Adkins has a word with Collins as one of the 'senior pro's' should be setting a better example.

I think this may explain why Clough froze him out of the squad.

The player who scores seems to be marked by Long. We need to put a defender on such players to avoid our keeper getting slight shoves when jumping for the ball. It doesn't take much contact to ruin goalkeeper's balance in such situations.

 
After the Yeovil play off defeat 3 seasons ago we were saying we needed rid of the likes of Collins mcfadzean and long... 3 years later they make up 3 of our back 5.

Absolute shite today. Was a good day out until kick off

Another thing the 'keepers shirt is too similar in colour to the rest of the team. Couldn't see Long till goal 4.

According to our manager our CBs weren't at fault for any of those goals. I think he needs to clean his glasses cleaned.

I think he's trying to not play the public blame game. He knows full well who is at fault or at least will when he re-watches the match on DVD later. If he starts singling out players he'll start lowering their confidence more than it already is like Clough seemed to. I trust him to identify the problems and bring in suitable replacements even if it does take a little longer to get them in. If he can't turn this around then I don't for the life of me know who will.

Problem is, he said they weren't at fault. Which is either a ridiculous lie or he's lost it. I have a bad feeling about this.

He was saying he didn't want to blame any individual as it was a team failure, but then said that,

We knew Collins was shite when we were relegated from the Championship, why the fuck would he be any good now?

Any manager who picks him isn't worth a wet wank.

Said some time ago that of Adkins can't see the defence's problems then get someone in who can.

4-0 to Gillingham, lets see you be positive about that?

To be fair he's probably in shock like the rest of us and didn't envisage a post match interview about us being utter utter wank
