A trip down to the sunny south...

If we play like we did tonight

Jesus that will be a long trip!

OS says Beattie's in the squad...

United's leading marksman, James Beattie, is back in the Blades squad as they prepare for the long trip to Essex to face bottom side Colchester United on Saturday.

Beattie returns to the fold after sustaining a knee injury against Blackpool on Boxing Day, although Derek Geary (knee), Jon Stead (hip) and Gary Naysmith will all undergo fitness tests before the squad depart on Friday afternoon.

Nick Montgomery (broken foot) is another absentee and he looks like facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines. He will see a specialist about the best way of dealing with his injury, whilst Danny Webber (knee)misses out again.

In the opposition camp United's backline will have to guard against the U's lively forward trio of Clive Platt, Kevin Lisbie and Teddy Sheringham.

Recent signing, Chris Coyne, is expected to feature alongside Adam Virgo at the back after the pair figured in Tuesday night's one-nil defeat against Barnsley at Oakwell.

Hope Stead passes the fitness test. Want him in the side.

Rather looking forward to this now, should be a good trip regardless of result.

Today's Team

No Hulse in the squad.

Kenny, Naysmith, Morgan, Shelton, Stead, Carney, Speed, Martin, Geary, Quinn, Ehiogu. Subs: Beattie, Kilgallon, Tonge, Gillespie, Armstrong.

Stead and Shelton looked good together against Man City
feel a bit more confident now :D

Should have started Beattie, Killa and Gillespie today in my opinion

Definately not Keef or Beattie.

Keef not been good enough but played well against Man City.

Beattie just come back from an injury so wouldn't start with him.

Should have started Beattie, Killa and Gillespie today in my opinion

Beattie - maybe as a sub in the second half.
Killa - still tired apparently, the poor lamb.
Keef - not on your nelly. When Carney and Martin are both playing better, ehy put Keef in?

New player today actually, a sub we have never heard of... Mikel Tongue?

So, I heard a bit of the game on the radio as I was couped up in the office whilst also watching the rugby. I never trust what I hear on the radio normally, but the commentators were not impressed at all by the performance (good old Reg Holdsworth was the co-commentator)

However, looking at the BBC website it seems that the performance has influenced them to call us 'bottom dwelling' and apprently, Luton Shelton bagged his first league goal for 'Colchester'

Surely it's not that bad that we have to pretend to be Cholchester?

:D:D:D

BBCwebsite said:
Luton Shelton claimed his first league goal for Colchester on 46 minutes but Kevin Lisbie levelled on the re-start.

Bottom-dwelling United took the lead again when Johnnie Jackson's free-kick deflected off Chris Armstrong and past keeper Paddy Kenny for an own-goal.

But the lead was short-lived as Carney, who also scored in the 1-1 midweek draw with Watford, saved his side's blushes.
