Cloughs' "Games played" excuse

Each time I hear our leader interviewed he seems to refer to "The amount of games we've played this season". So I thought I would just see how we compare to todays Opposition.

Our most used player is Jamie Murphy having played 50 games from the Start. Tommy Lee and Tendaya Darikwa have both played 53 for Chesterfield.

Our top 11 most used players have played an average of 37 games each. Chesterfield average 40 games each for their top 11.

7 of our players have started over 30 games this season - Chesterfield have 10 at that mark.

We have used 36 players this year compared to Chesterfields 29

So, IMO, I don't think we have the monopoly on tiredness and fatigue, though worryingly and most importantly, I thought Chessie looked much fresher and fitter that us today!

...and yes I know I need to get out more!

We have had cup runs against top clubs ,which will take it out of players mentally as well as physically. We played a patched up team today to rest players for the play offs whereas Chesterfield played an unchanged 11 ,they were bound to more cohesive but risky going into what is basically another competition.

Think that might back fire on them, playoff games take a lot out of you I for one think/hope they have peaked, Swindon have rested players that's what we need to worry about.

It's a ready made excuse, it's about time reporters did your sort of research then he can be hit with that one see how he reacts. We have no excuse this year in the playoffs IMO.

Think that might back fire on them, playoff games take a lot out of you I for one think/hope they have peaked, Swindon have rested players that's what we need to worry about.

Agree and if that is their strongest team and the best they can do we will beat them ,unless demoralised PNE do it first.
