I looked at Derby County's pre season games the other night, for the last 3/4 years. We certainly won't be travelling far as I can see it.

In regards to transfers, I am glad he is looking in the right areas. Some managers told us for years what players we needed like a playmaker but never did anything about it.

I'd guess he wants to come. The question is whether he is Clough's first target and what his wages are like. He is a Premiership player don't forget and his wages will be higher than most in The Championship

I know Foxy thinks it's a non-starter, but purely theoretically, I cannot think of any target with a better goals record at this level. He's as near to a guarantee of 20+ as it's possible to imagine.

Still, if I were Billy I'd not come back here… I'd be having nightmares about Kevin Blackwell, Brian Robson and endlessly running channels for no apparent reason.

Southampton could potentially subsidise part of his wages with only a year remaining. It's a little like the Brayford situation where it looks like he'd want to join but making it happen is another thing. Quality player at this level.

Interesting stuff on the contracts. He pretty much immediately confirmed that he wants Howard for next season, but when Porter and Hill came up he responded with 'there's a decision to be made'. I got the feeling both will be released.
