Back to the main purpose of the thread. This Clarke saga is getting as long as the Burns one and unfortunately Burns is a brand of guitar. Spooky eh?

Granted, but they weren't specified and he has had a history of "issues". If you want to quote his Dad dying as a reason to dismiss all issues in their entirely then bang on.
 
If I was in Clarke's position then I wouldn't think United were stringing me along. It would strike the right chord with me because there'd be more money left in the transfer pot for me to pluck, and less going to Bury;s board.

I've seen it mentioned a few times that Clarke would be an excellent partner for Billy, I just don't see how we have the players to play 442 or am I missing something?

If CW wants to bring in a forward to offer an alternative to what we currently have, which I agree is a bit samey, I'm not sure £300K for someone to potentially be an off the bench player is value, especially as we have other holes to fill. If we can get a CM that enables us to play 2 up and we've got another CB in, then yes £300K maybe value.

I've not seen mention of CW wanting another CM, current priorities mentioned are CB and Forward.

So he wants to sign for us then, that's good.

Flitcroft's more embarrassing than any bid we've made.
 
The only person who should be embarrassed in this saga is Flitcroft. I am guessing he is under pressure to sell but knows wants to keep him so coming out with some stupid stuff to put us off.

Personally I don't want him that much, I would prefer money to be spent on a CB and CM.

Flitcrofts is between the devil and deep blue sea . The bloke has lost it and to me worried about getting the sack .

We are talking about a second rate league 1 player , playing for a second rate club , who appears to be wanted by a established league 1 club.

Didn't Arenal trigger the transfer fee by one pound , of that bloke who goes around biting people when playing for Liverpool.

All relative , and thank fuck we after all these years are now playing hard ball with opposing clubs .

This Clarke transfer has been hanging around too long . Let's up set Bury even more and tell them to fuck off when they offer us Clarke .
 
I usually very reliable account on Twitter (i know... It's Twitter - but this account was the first to post we'd agreed a fee with Cardiff for Brayford) says we're close to agreeing a deal with Bury
 
It would seem it is inevitable this transfer goes through but we thought same on McFadzean. Flitcroft is doing his best for his board trying to drive the price up. His comments are extremely unprofessional but I think even he knows United will just keep upping the bid until Bury will probably accept.

United have already said through Knill today they are interested and have a ceiling. They will bid to it and if Bury reject then will move on and that is right.

As earlier post said; Clarke originally found the first bid funny but now is unsettled. Which is it? I am sure he is very keen on a move due to the extra wages, signing on fee, facilities etc at SUFC.
 
It's purely the bidding game being played by Flitcroft, however unprofessionaly done. To say that they laughed at the offer is disrespectful irrespective of who placed the offer. He must have a problem with SUFC. Well tough. They have money problems like most of us down here. If he plays with fire he.might just get burned.

It's been said by Knill today that we have a ceiling value regarding Clarke, i fully expect us to continue bidding until we reach that value, which Bury will reject and for Bury to end up in the same situation as us with Maguire, where they have to come back and accept an offer they previously rejected because they need the money offered

Unfortunately, to be competitive in L1 this season we need a CB, CM, Wide Mid AND a CF ...... all of decent quality.

Otherwise its going to be another long, frustrating and ultimately disappointing season ..... :(

The rumour at Burys preseason game today was that a deal was agreed yesterday, Leon has already cleaned out his locker and should be a Blade shortly.
