Is it me or does Chris sound like he despises that interviewer (is it Mike?)?

Have noticed during his interviews that he’s always very open and friendly with Andy and Adam but seems to genuinely dislike this guy.

I remember a while back him pushing a question about Lundstrums poor form and Chris saying he wasn’t going to discuss it with him not sure if it stems from that?

Said exactly the same https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/blades-v-derby-match-highlights.68303/#post-1881206

I didn’t think there was anything wrong or unique about what the interviewer said. I suspect they got off on the wrong foot and Wilder hasn’t moved on from that.

Yeah, he doesn’t help himself with some stupid questions but he really does seem to wind Wilder up. UTB

Yeah I’ve noticed that, he seems a bit of a Plank and I don’t think that Chris is the type to take a disliking to anyone in the media for no reason. He always seems very polite with everyone else.

He must have done something

Wilder can be a bit chippy at times but he’s every right to be annoyed with that interview. Really stupid questions.

Never mind Wilder I despise him. He has zero personality which you kind of need for radio. He would be suited to a call centre this lad, polite but void of any character.

Yes, there's definite impatience there, and has been for a while.

It may even go back to the first interview. He's just clueless. It's like he's trying to ask clever questions but ends up sounding like a right prat.

He's clearly got no feel for the club at all.

He just asks shit questions in a shit way.

He does seem to take real offence to people talking about early crosses which winds me up so much.

Looks at our best chances (and first goal) today.... early crosses!! I find it so infuriating the number of times we mess about with it out wide and then lose the ball. Wilder seems very resistant to this idea, and appears to take real umbrage and the suggestion that early crosses are to our benefit.

Thought Wilder came across as very prickly during that interview.

Also, that interviewer is hopeless.

Just listening now and I've generally defended Mike from Radio Sheffield but he seemed to labouring the point about the first half that we were lucky to go in front. I actually disagree, I thought we were the better team in the first half - just - and second half far the better.

I really like his attitude with Radio Sheffield. Fuck um, set of pigs.

There is one presenter that he does seem to have a laugh with though, they do seem to get on.
That said, I don't think that was just frustration at the questions or with the media. I think when he mentioned the noise about not crossing the ball and tiring in the second half etc... That was his way of of sticking up for his players against some of the stick they've received on places like here over the past few weeks.

Mike doesn't play devil's advocate very well which affects his interview style.

He's far too nice and doesn't seem to have that bit of edge to challenge anyone with his line of questioning. If he does try, and Wilder - like today - snaps at him a bit, he shits himself rather than standing firm and justifying his question.

He's fine for Football Heaven in the week when it's the local tards he's up against. Shame Staton left... he was a pig but I liked how he took the piss out of people!

You can hear his voice change and then wilder challenges him about rolling a team over of Derby’s quality.. when he says we didn’t dominate them in the first 20.

He’s a very smart guy, regardless of the touch line stuff today, after the game he won’t allow disrespect to the opposition, derby are a bloody good team and shouldn’t be took lightly, they’ll be there at the end, hopefully we will too.. then it’s a roll of the dice..

He really only shits on Wendy, everybody else gets respect.. he’ll do for me..

If you look at a lot of the managers ie Ferguson,Mourinho er al they’ve all got favourite interviewers who they can wrap around their little finger or the ones that like to sail close to the wind in Fergies first book he invited a reporter into close quarters and told him about some transfer news (I think it was van nistelrooy)

I don’t think it at all helped that Wilder gave a one word answer to every interviewer’s standard “your thoughts on today’s performance today Chris” introduction. I listen to his pre and post match interviews and with other interviewers Wilder would tend to offer a few more thoughts to begin with before handing back to the interviewer – there was a bit of an awkward pause after “Outstanding.” when it became clear that this was the entirety of his answer.

Again, there’s nothing in the questions asked today that I thought was unusual – Jonathan Buchan used to ask as many average questions but never seemed to spark that kind of fed-up response from Wilder.

Wilder clearly dislikes this bloke. The guy doesn’t do anything to help himself though. However I don’t think his questions were unusual today. I thought Derby did edge the first half and created the most but we went in ahead. The second half we came out and looked more organised and played with a higher tempo and better rhythm so I see nothing wrong with asking the question he did.

Wilder seems to have very good relationships with most of the local journos; the other RS presenters, the Star guys and Alan Biggs. Its so obvious he detests this one, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Personally, I think MM is a strange fit on RS. I’ve heard his interviews a few times and thought he was odd- so I assumed he must be a great commentator to get the job. But I heard him actually commentate for the first time on the Ipswich game- that blew my theory out of the water.

To be fair to him (its still sort of Christmas), he’s only been here a few months. He’s not from the area, so probably needs smartening up on each individual club, fan bases, personalities, etc.

That's a very charitable assessment, but it is Christmas I suppose.

I said when he joined that he would find it hard to be accepted. He’s just got a way with him that is very “Southern” from the accent to the questioning technique which comes over as a bit “manicured” and resembling corporate speak.

More “muck and nettles” would be better.

He comes over as a bit smarmy and smart arse and removed from local culture.

He’s a relatively inexperienced presenter trying to make his way through the system whereas Giddings, Walker, Shield, Oxley, Staton when he was here have been about years and have earned the respect and developed their own style. Wilder was exactly the same with Buchan at the start, but as Jb gained experience and improved they started to get on. You’ve just got to build relationships that’s all.

Wilder has always come across as someone who puts the interviewer in their place. No bullshit, you ask shit then be prepared to get shit answers. When we won promotion and radio sheff leaked the Ched returning news, Wilder told them exactly what he thought of their actions and hownhes been sound with the inrerviwers.
