All good shouts! - I guess it depends how our board can sell the vision of the club to others. If you take a step back and look at the club over the last 20 years we have produced full England internationals with some still playing and Jags going on to captain England too and this is from a set-up that is by all accounts have sub par facilities in terms of infrastructure at the academy (granted this is being sorted) but someone with vision should see you have the opportunity to build and develop something special. Are we ever going to be a Liverpool or Man United - no chance however could we be a Brighton or Bournemouth absolutely by bringing in players for small fees developing and selling to reinvest they have established themselves currently in the top 10. If the right scenario would have happened Brighton would have ended up in Europe next season as it happens they missed out by 4 points. As a club we have potential if everyone is moving in the same direction but what we can't do is get the hump because some doesn't agree with something (board level/management)
All good points. I think at youth level, we’re doing well in so wouldn’t look to change things around too much. At first team level we desperately need modernising. I think it’s now or never (never being years down the line) and I’d really like to see us step into the modern world when it comes to coaching staff, recruitment staff and all that goes in between.

What annoys me for a bloke who claims to love the club " Mr Sheffield United " looks like he'll happily walk away with another wedge of money if he goes .
No doubt someone will correct me but I work it out at 5m plus over 2 occasions
That ladies and gentlemen is out of your pockets

Least we didn’t have to listen to him bitch about every aspect of the club before leaving this time though.

The majority of it is from the pockets of the customers of Sky and other broadcasters all over the world. Not so much from our pockets.

Yeah you're wrong

Why shouldn't he? He's got a 3 year contract. If the club gives him that contract and then sacks him 6 months later, he'll presumably get paid and rightly so.

That's what annoys me about football you get rewarded for failure.
One day some of these owners are going to get together and really put some conditions in contracts.
If I'd have called my customers idiots ( or whatever he came out with) I'd have been shown the door without ceremony and severance pay .

Ahem....punters 😉

I do wonder if the disciplinary issues this season, some of which can be laid directly at his door, might be grounds for termination. I suspect that they will have asked employment lawyers for a view

If there are built in conditions in Wilders contract, maybe getting promoted etc, is that what he knew when he left the field at Wembley?. I for one would be disappointed if he's here next year and more so if he's given the cash to splash. Some names that could step in are Mousinho, O'Neil, Dyche, Gerrard, Southgate, Cooper etc

If he goes I’m surprised, but what concerns me more is who the American owners replace him with

As complete rookies of owning and running a football club, who they replace him with is absolutely crucial

It wasn’t that long ago American owners sacked Birminghams manager after taking them into the play offs, signed you know who and ended up relegated

Blades Ramble worth a listen at 8 I'd say as he is talking about that amongst other rumors on his channel. I'm not a Rambler I may add but I like his content.

you still need someone who understands the club, its ethos its fans ……
No you don’t. We need to move on as a club, our ethos is out of date. We need a rebuild of the club, its processes and procedures, strategy, infrastructure etc.

Polishing a turd and rolling it in glitter doesn’t fundamentally change it. Rise and repeat days need binning

Imo

Chris Wilder has banged on about all those things though, and been quite visibly frustrated by some of it not happening. You can have all that and still have a manager who understands the club.

This "understand the fans" is so backwards thinking. Every single fan of every single club wants the same thing - "Exciting and winning football".

And that's exactly what he did in his first 4 years. Yes it was nice that he was a blade, but look how quickly people forgave Danny Wilson when we were playing excellent football in his first season in league 1.

But the way the club has been run for decades means we never benefitted from any of those players. And how much ££££ did we get for them collectively compared to their final sale value?
