If you anlyse his mangerial perfromance since the 9th Prem finish

  1. Terrible Season with us during Covid and poor recrtuirment. Left through the back door
  2. Started well with Middlesbrough but then completely fell away which then saw Carrick take that team to the brink of promotion.
  3. Went to Watford and had a torrid time, albiet at a club in turmoil
  4. Came back to us in the Prem, and took our bad performances and made them even worse. Extremley poor squad however and no manager could have stopped relegation, but we could have made more of a fight of it. Some bizzare media comments such as "Sandwich gate"
  5. In the Championship. he had 3rd highest Wage budget in the league and spent signifcant outlay on transfers. Took us to 92 points but we were 10th in the league for creating "dangerous chances" which suggests our points tally might have flattered us. Struggled against the best clubs in the league. Universally dislked by most other clubs/fans and his team have had huge fines for ill discipline.

I do think if it wasn't for his SUFC connections, and his increadible turnaround of the club in 2016-2020 then I would be 95% confident the new owners would have moved him on.

But I think its time for a fresh start, investing in a manger with a new ethos and a plan. People might say "What about Slav" - but we still were very restricted financially and didn't allow him to build the team/squad he needed. I also never fully rated him as a manager and tink he was the wrong choice.
FFS...Let's massage the facts to prove our case!!
No mention of the job he did first time around
No mention of the great players he signed
No mention of his points total this season
No mention of the unity within the team

No mention of the young players he's brought through over the years.

The sense of entitlement in our fan base absolutely amazes me.
Anyway don't let facts influence your argument

People also forget it was a very turbulant season off the field especially at the start of the season when we were trying to bring players in but had no clue who was gonna fund it pending a takeover (owners wasn't even in charge at the start of the season).

To come through that and still earn 94 points after seeing a squad overhaul is pretty remarkable tbh.
Good job Wilder didn't earn 94 points then so the sacking is fine.

Maybe Chris doesn’t want AI to pick players and he doesn’t like that he can’t pick his players . Think we’ll fall behind just signing British

I don't even know which side of the fence I'm on, so I ask these questions genuinely:

What has CWs first period have to do with the present?
When given money to spend, are you happy with what CW has done with it?

I'm on the Wilder out team , but it needs to be done next week and give the new guy ( whoever ?? As yet no-one has even been connected)
But if not everything needs to be in place for chris to "take a long hard look in the mirror " and get working towards next season 72 days and counting.
One stipulation would be he doesn’t have final word in recruitment !! But some input.
Wishlist for me sporting director ( not just the mens/ academy side but the ladies/girl's sides as well)

Some might also think Bryan Robson, Nigel Adkins, David Weir. Its fine swapping the manager but you still need someone who understands the club, its ethos its fans or its careful what you wish for.
Based on the fines, the lack of professionalism by Wilder, and the ill discipline that we've seen during and after games this season I think that the whole "ethos" of the club is due a major overhaul.

Gonna be decided by a royal rumble. Wilder and his 4 hardest drinking pals and Pejmon with 4 of his Robotos. Winner picks the transfers.

I just hope whatever happens, happens quickly. If we're keeping him, lets get players in and start the rebuild as soon as we can. If we're letting him go, make sure the new manager is lined up promptly and in with plenty of time to start planning.

It might be a purely financial decision. Maybe they’ve calculated that escalating fines for failing to control players will end up being significantly more than the value of his remaining contract so they’re sacking him to save money.

Fines are nothing compared to the £2 million on the new pitch.

The only thing against AI driven recruitment for me is personality.

Apart from that I am all for it. It's just like buying a car on Auto-Trader, you put in your parameters, price, year, body-style, economy, performance and it spits out a load of suggestions. you will rule out a few straight away but there will be some that you will look into a bit more and maybe "test drive", (trial) to see what they are like...the only problem is that if you go ahead and buy one then it turns out to be a bit dodgy it's really hard to get your money back!
There’s no indication that the selection of players will be purely AI. I’d imagine we are being smart and using it to create a long list, validating it and refining it down based on watch the player/understanding their personality/soft skills.

Don’t think it’s literally ChatGTP making the signings. They’re probably analysed then passed on to the manager to decide who he thinks.

From the little bits I've heard (dismiss it as hearsay if you wish), it is more closely aligned to "literally ChatGPT making the signings" than it is "the manager getting to decide what he thinks."

And you also don't have to look too far for some supporting evidence of that (Jefferson Caceres and Christian Nwachukwu).

I do worry a bit that our millionaire owners could be using the club as their Guinea Pig to test out some of their companies AI technology capabilities.
I'd hoped to see them bring in some proper football people to fill in the knowledge gap, but it seems they think the computers can do this for them....

I would sack him just for letting Robinson play enough games to trigger another year.

Joking aside, did wilders statement after the play off convince anyone he’s 100% to go again. Does he even want to?

I am not sure if I am the owners I take thy chance: there were rumours about Gary O’Neill a year ago, maybe now is the time to start fresh

I literally quoted if you have a proper read:

"Incredible turnaround of the club"
"Took us to 92 points this season"

These 'great players' were signed 6+ years ago now. The only ones recently have been Cooper, who everyone knew was great but had a suspect injury record so was a gamble, and Burrows who has been a good addition at a fair price. Now look at his not so good signings...

I also don't really understand how bringing through young players is down to him? Yes he's given them a chance, but he's not signed them, and several were played out of necessity. Lets not forget he didn't play Ndiaye.

Ai/Data driven signings seem to be our future. I was told a while back that Tom Cannon signing was the owners and through AI and not Wilder or the scouting team. Thought it was probably bullshit tbh but I saw Alan Knills son on Twitter saying that the owners have made three signings using AI, Cannon, Caceres, Nwachukwu, so I’m guessing there is truth in it after all and is a little bit worrying that they’d spend 10m or whatever Cannon cost on the advice of AI. Don’t mind the other signings though as they are cheap gambles.

Absolutely spot on mate … they ignore the fact that all of our recent history of being in or close to the Premier League is entirely down to Chris and his team. There are some very short memories that forget the absolute mess the club became in League 1. Before his arrival, it was more likely we get relegated than promoted. We all know things should have been different after our 9th place finish. At that point most other clubs would have enabled Chris to properly compete on wages… it never happened and he was rightly as frustrated as we were to see the opportunity thrown away.
As for his stints at Middlesborough and Watford …. Of course they’ve both really thrived since he left…. Ah no … pretty much where he left them.
As you say there’s a sense of entitlement amongst many that completely ignores financial reality and the relative size of the club. They also ignore every positive this season (Souttar, Burrows, Cooper, Campbell, Peck, Seriki, O Hare etc. etc.. ) and instead highlight the negatives…. Players not fulfilling potential or not hitting the ground running obviously never happens at other clubs.
We were literally one dodgy VAR decision away from the PL this season and so called fans want to sack the manager….. entitled is one word but i can think of many better ones.

It would be interesting if that did have a role in Cannon, especially given Wilder had apparently sign him earlier in the year

I vaguely recall something about Cannon being the owners' choice as well.

I suspect the owners are trying to change the ethos .

To what though ?. If its to a hire em, fire em club at the first sign of trouble Where the manager has very little say in what going on and he's basically just a coach. We have one of them up the road. Their fans are fully on board with proceedings.
