He who laughs last, laughs longest. Round of applause for this man! I wouldn't have had the patience.

This must qualify as the greatest example of foresight and wisdom ever. I salute you Sir.Been a success wherever he has been.
Took over Oxford United when they was bimbling around in the conference and a couple of leagues below their natural level and has taken them to 2nd in their current division.
Knows the club, its fans and what it is all about. Worked his way up from the bottom. Never really had the chance to prove himself at a higher level.

Special shout out to Pinchy![]()
Perhaps it will serve as a lesson to not be so adamant about something which transpires to be a subject you have little to no knowledge on.Indeed. Actually Tufty changed my mind very quickly and very publicly. I can’t be bothered to find it but I’m sure my archivists will do so. Failing that, one or two regulars will remember I’m sure.
Is that another way of saying 'I was wrong',?Indeed. Actually Tufty changed my mind very quickly and very publicly. I can’t be bothered to find it but I’m sure my archivists will do so. Failing that, one or two regulars will remember I’m sure.
I played cricket against Chris at Castledyke in 1995. He was very approachable and easy to talk to. He asked for my thoughts on the Blades season just gone (1994-95) and it made me think "He could make a good football manager!"Ooo, some of us saw the greatness much earlier than that

I'm not saying I haven't done this either. We all learn on these message boards.

Whereas Wilder has established his mediocrity over many years.
Bladey Bladey nonsense. Do we never learn?
Yes, they are falling over themselves to appoint Chris Wilder.

Well, I'm only just 51. Still got time yet.I think Silent Blade comes out of this pretty well. Did VespaBlade get the bet on? And has shorehamview made it to a millionaire in his 50's?

Yes we do learn Pinchy, bit by bit, slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.
The real, proper football offered up Messrs Weir, Wilson and Clough is discredited to be replaced by plenty of crosses in the box, plenty of exciting football played at high tempo, spearhead by journeymen, characterised by proficiency at set pieces, and ‘gerrinforrard’ with speed, guild and precision.
The failed experiments of Little Louis, Diego De Juve, and Ironside are part of the distant and discredited past, and we got all Bladey Bladey with the returning hero Billy Sharp.
When I wrote this the old kings were either dying or dead, the longings for the return of the old warlord Warnock was strong, the memories of discredited king of hoof, Semi-Pro Blackie still remembered warmly. We had just been beaten by some non descript pub league side like Crawley, Stevenage or Carlisle, the deep unpleasantness of the minute gory details of who now thankfully expunged from the memory,
Like all great visionaries of the past, my thoughts dismisses as the inane thoughts of the mad man.
Long live tuftyball
His replacement is already at the club!Great shout that Brownie, while admiring his lower league achievements, I thought the job might be `too big` for him, glad to be wrong, big style
Who should we go for after Wilder??![]()
I think we’re all delighted for him Brownie. A genuine lad who’s put every club ahead of himself and done his best for them. He’s put himself on the cross at times as well. Like at Northampton when he spoke out about the owners.
You don’t meet many folks in life like that.
It’s called “integrity”.
And he’s got it in spades.
no,no and no.not what we need.we just need some strikers 2 put the ball in the net.
Unfortunately Mobile I didn't lump on it. My bad.I think Silent Blade comes out of this pretty well. Did VespaBlade get the bet on? And has shorehamview made it to a millionaire in his 50's?
Michael Gove. I'm told. By a friend.Unfortunately Mobile I didn't lump on it. My bad.
However If David Frains brother now knows who will win the Tory leadership contest I can gladly start trolling that 'winner' sooner........
Well done Brownie on this btw...
'Doffs a cap I have put on especially just to doff it to you.'
You must have passed on some great thoughts to him to turn him into the manager he has become. If we lose a few matches early doors next season, make sure you have another chat with him...I played cricket against Chris at Castledyke in 1995. He was very approachable and easy to talk to. He asked for my thoughts on the Blades season just gone (1994-95) and it made me think "He could make a good football manager!"
