You’ve pointed out that you think it’s a stupid decision. That’s fine, we all have opinions. Going on about it for months & months, as I’m sure some will do, will become very boring. In the same way as people continuing to slag Wilder will.
Ye it would become boring. Like you posting about how great a decision it would be for weeks was very boring.

Good one mate. Hilarious. I didn't realise how much joy slating a manager who's given us so much could bring.
Totally hysterical reaction.

Bladesman is just pointing out we support SUFC and what is best for the club, not one individual within it. Wilder is and will always be a legend for me up there with Bassett, Warnock, Harris, Furphy et Al.

It’s just many feel (including the owners apparently) it’s time to change to modernise. That’s it, if Wilder fans feel so strongly go support the team he goes to. I’m with Bladesman rooting for the club.

It’s the owners club/money so we have to go with them. Get it wrong and we’ll turn on them. Even so Wilder won’t be rehired.

Yes I was very impressed with last season. I didn't think we'd get top 6. His antics I just enjoy them because it'll be the last time we have a manager in the pub celebrating with fans after games. Too many pearl clutchers will mean its gone from football. I dont take it too seriously and don't think it's embarrassing. The ones constantly posting about him dont seem grateful at all to me.

The pub chanting didn't bother me. It was more the fines and the fact he bottled most of the big matches other than the derby games. Nor did we have any real style of play.

Wilder knew 2 weeks ago, don’t listen to crap like that what he is peddling.
I don't know the exact date, but I was told that Wilder was told his contract was being terminated before his holidays, at least. The 'delay' in formal termination is down to compensation agreement, which is being handled by Wilder's agent

The fines were mainly for our players getting involved in scuffles. I don't think it's a big deal and not all Wilder's fault. Are we going to go in on Peck for getting involved or did we actually all quite enjoy that? I dont think we bottled many big games. I think saying bottled is a very lazy thing to chuck out about whoever loses. We played well in a lot of the big games and lost by fine margins against good teams. Style of play I think was fine. Had us easily the 3rd best team in the league with a squad that shouldn't have been up there before Christmas.

We bottled the ones that mattered against those around us. We never looked like beating Leeds or Burnley at all.

At the end of the day, COH sports are going to spend money this transfer window to get promoted. Otherwise whats the point in buying a club in the championship (who generally lose money every season).

They will want a plan, style of play, certain criteria of signings and a manager who can bring the plan to fruition.

Last two seasons we in the championship we have relied on players producing moments, rather than a style of play which can be replicable every game. This is not sustainable going forward and needs to be stopped. Our recruitment for years has been the same model (excluding a hand full of the 50-60+ we have signed) which needs a shake up. New managers bring in new knowledge and a new scouting ideal. The AI side of this just complements the style with a low risk high reward - which is the right way to go about - why? We unearth gems and we fill out our U21s which allows for more loans for development and not having to use U18s too early whilst they are still kids.

Wilder has brought about some amazing memories after in his two stints which we are all very thankful of, however there are aspects of his management style which can be improved and we are in a situation where we need someone to take us to the next level - and stay up. (when we finished 9th that was an anomaly with goals scored and conceded, it ((once again)) wasn't sustainable or replicable.)

Here is to a new era, full of excitement - im all for it

UTB
Ah yes, the anomaly season as it will be forever known.
That season was preceeded by promotion to the Premier League.
2 years previously we were promoted to the Championship after what appeared a lifetime in League 1.
A litany of anomalies courtesy of Wilder.

Leeds/ Burnley, we're miles better than us. Still had a chance though, after beating a crap team like Bristol, then facing a Sunderland side what had got no form whatsoever heading into the playoffs, the rest sadly is history, ,Chris dragged us out of the gutter, which we will be grafully thank full for, but never the same when he came back! Prince only brought him back because he couldn't afford any fucker else!

Wilder got sacked by Boro and Watford and previously left us on the verge of relegation. Why did we want him back?
Because we were still paying his wages from when he first walked, and we needed a manager. In walks Wilder.

People saying we shouldn't have sacked Wilder because of what he did in 2019 is making my head want to explode.

He is and probably will remain for some time the most successful manager in my time supporting United. He also made lots of mistakes in the end of his first spell and he has repeated many of those during his current spell. We did well last season but in key areas, in big games and against the best sides we lost. We were tactically lost at times and January recruitment which was quite significant made us worse.

I can easily see why people are unhappy he wasn't given another season, but how they cannot see the reasons the new owners want their own direction is also ridiculous. I hate how binary the internet has made things.

Cheers Chris for the good times. Now let's try to move to another level. Up the Blades.

Brilliant post. Sums up my feelings entirely.

What boiled my piss with Wilder was him trying to claim he had learned and changed his approach since he had been gone, having seen how other clubs operate.

I don't think he learnt much at all from Boro and Watford.
