Ange Postecoglou for me....became available, board couldn't pass up on the opportunity....
I'd love it but it's not a remote possibility

I’m in the Wilder Out camp.

I want real change and a move away from being a club anchored in Bladeyness.

To progress we need a fresh approach, a new identity and that will take someone who is not connected to sheffield United to achieve.

Yes we had Slav but he just wasn’t good enough. Praying we get it right this time and we progress as a football club on and off the pitch.

UTB!!!!
Im in the Wilder in camp but if Wilder goes I want Mickey Adams back with Alan Cork as his assistant. 😉 I jest but I'll really miss Wilder in charge on many fronts and I done very it when there's a blade in charge or someone who is connected to the club like an ex player but they've got to do the job at the end of the day.

They best make a success of this appointment now they've removed a damn good manager.

The question for me with that regards, is why hasn't Wilder done this himself then instead of his boring safety first, negative, disjointed, square pegs in round holes football?

Why do we always have to be a hard working team? Why can't we move on from what we were in the 1980s and 1990s?

Not a pop at you, but our fans often accused the club of a lack of ambition. I'd argue some need to take a look in the mirror.

I'm sick to death of the "Sheffield United Way" I'm sick of us always being known as a gritty hard working team who wear teams down and grind out results. Ironically Wilder changed this when he first arrived as only Danny Wilson had gone against this since Spackman.
I am surprised by the way we played this season. I kind of got it to begin with where the "rebuild" was new, but then results came, probably more than expected and we ended up having to carry on in the same way due to the pressure of promotion.

I wonder what we would have done if we were mid table and safe at the start of January rather than top of the league.

I'd not want him, since he took over their injuries kept getting worse. Another one similar to Hecky who got desperate bringing players back from injury early only to get injured again.

I bet Spur's injury problems get better next season.

Just had a couple of Cumberland from Morrisons. Were lovely.
Aye
But ref my post on another (Wilder) thread:-

“I’m a (massive) fan of Morrisons own brand low salt low sugar baked beans (four pack).
Absent from the shelves since 24 May with no explanation from Morrisons HQ
Every time I go shopping theres hoards of disorientated (healthy living) customers milling around aimlessly whilst demanding action under their breath

This is compounded by them ceasing (apparently refusing) to stock ‘Hammond Chop Sauce’ again with no ‘explanation’ proffered”

😉

There’s (nearly) a meal there in itself!?!

At the end of the day, COH sports are going to spend money this transfer window to get promoted. Otherwise whats the point in buying a club in the championship (who generally lose money every season).

They will want a plan, style of play, certain criteria of signings and a manager who can bring the plan to fruition.

Last two seasons we in the championship we have relied on players producing moments, rather than a style of play which can be replicable every game. This is not sustainable going forward and needs to be stopped. Our recruitment for years has been the same model (excluding a hand full of the 50-60+ we have signed) which needs a shake up. New managers bring in new knowledge and a new scouting ideal. The AI side of this just complements the style with a low risk high reward - which is the right way to go about - why? We unearth gems and we fill out our U21s which allows for more loans for development and not having to use U18s too early whilst they are still kids.

Wilder has brought about some amazing memories after in his two stints which we are all very thankful of, however there are aspects of his management style which can be improved and we are in a situation where we need someone to take us to the next level - and stay up. (when we finished 9th that was an anomaly with goals scored and conceded, it ((once again)) wasn't sustainable or replicable.)

Here is to a new era, full of excitement - im all for it

Was chatting to a guy in my local in South Melbourne which is where Ange first started his football career. There's a famous mural of Ange around the corner from my house. Anyway this fella has known Ange for absolutely years and still speaks with him about the old times. The local fans here are still very passionate about the old rivalries based on which European country you were from, traditionally Greeks, Italians and Croatians etc.

Anyway I asked the fella if Ange had mentioned anything about his next move. He knows I'm a massive Blade and he'd even read about Wilders impending sacking so was very intrigued about my line of questioning. So as I said before, I asked him if he'd heard anything about the remote possibility of Ange coming to manage Sheffield United. And you're all wondering if he knew anything about Ange managing Sheffield United. Did he fuck! Thank you for reading...

I might be wrong but I'm not aware of that being the case at Celtic.

Anyway, it's pie in the sky.

I wanted wilder to stay but at least we know it's not O'Neil. Hoping for someone more inspired than O'Neil but there's still a raft if managers id not want like Gerrard, Carrick. I'm not fussed on Rob Edwards or Ruben Selles but if that aforementioned list it would be Selles for me.
Aye
Don’t forget Mr Potato Head is (will be) available fresh from his goal scoring exploits (for charidee) on Sunday
May be November afore he recovers mind?

Indeed. But one has to try and maintain the integrity of this establishment.
It is noticed who tidies up around here ;)

Seriously, who cares about the location of a thread?

Sorry, maybe I'm missing something, but hasn't Selles just been sacked by Hull. Why would we want him?
Showed Wilder up in January when Hull battered us. It won't have gone unnoticed that we've struggled when up against more flexible tactical approaches.

That’s exactly the response AP gave when asked if he was interested in in the Blades job 🤔

Finished 4th bottom and only stayed up on goal difference and then got the sack. But yeah they played well at the Lane so he’s the man for the job.

If we were Wednesdayites we'd take that as a definite sign that he was definitely coming to manage us as "they are just keeping it quiet".

We'd also have to disinfect ourselves and seek psychiatric assistance, mind you.

Just a thought, are they going to be really radical and appoint the first female manager in the Championship? After all the secret service have just done that.
Aye
Albeit some enlightened folk on here will suggest that is already ‘in train’ with the purported interest in ‘Nancy’

Quite a harsh sacking IMO, especially as it is the same Hull who sacked Liam Rosenior this time last year (when they finished 7th)

He'd been there half a season, initially did well but got done by a long injury list and poor home form that was there before he arrived.

Definitely will, given a lot of the injuries were supposedly caused by his style of play and reluctance to rotate when his players were running on fumes.

He didn't show Wilder up over 46 games though, or his career in general. God forbid they've made any decisions based on that.

Regarding the thread location, I was supporting Linz and the site rules (for clarity).

You think people wouldn't say yes to a concrete bowl ground on the outskirts of town?
You think there aren't people that would modernise the crest given the chance?
Im going off on a tangent, its irrelevant now, I'm just saying I can't get my head around people not wanting as strong of an identity as possible.
Our identity as a club has changed a few times during our existence. The crest was modernised as recently as the 70s, I think you’re worrying about nothing.
