Really sad to see him go but I don’t think we have seen the last of him, he’ll be back for a third stint when we are in the shit and can’t find a manager to get us out of it.

Till then thanks for the memories Chris

Right this lot in charge better not make a mistake with the new man, I’d rather some unknown foreign manager than the names mentioned so far as they don’t really fill me with any great hope.
We'll get unknown alright!

Ange Postecoglou for me....became available, board couldn't pass up on the opportunity....
Would be hilarious as a close friend is a big Spurs fan. Would love that.

I genuinely can't believe people want away from "Bladeyness". By that they mean identity. They don't want Billy Sharps any more, Arblasters coming through, British players.
I suppose there's fans that would leave the Lane, get rid of the GCB and redesign the club badge.
I really hope that with this "decision"(tbc) that the board invest in creating a positive football identity, whilst also invest in growing our existing identity.

We have the framework to do it (good academy, at the heart of an amazing city etc). For me, I would prefer an average team with identity, rather than just being sheffield united in name and winning cups etc. That is just me though.

It’s got nothing to do with players coming through the academy, which will still happen.

As for the rest of it, people will have their own opinions, each equally valid.
I didn't say any players coming through. I picked Billy and Blaster. I'm getting at people would be as happy buying Bulgarians and putting them in our 21s then having lads from Sheffield come through. They will have opinions on changing everything else, the entire fabric of the club, I'm just saying I can't believe why.

Not one blade I’ve encountered on here or outside has said that let alone implied it.

That is our history, but it’s history and we need we need a reinvention to survive in the modern game.

That’s not what I’m saying at all.

I want rational, tactical, strategic decisions, not emotionally charged, fan-minded decisions which I believe Wilder made from time to time.

A positive football identify and growing our existing identity is an oxymoron. We don't play positive football and our current identify is a team of thugs, battlers and hoofers..... with Gus Hamer.

We can retain "Bladeyness" without operating like we're run by a bunch of infants. We can retain "Bladeyness" while not accumulating half a million quid in fines in a season for acting like schoolkids on the pitch. Without the manager starting scuffles in the tunnel.

It's not as if having Wilder as manager is the only reason anyone supports United. We've been Blades since before he arrived; we'll be Blades long after he has left.

It's unhealthy to allow one man's presence be quite so influential over how we interpret the club. Breaking away allows for that relationship to become much more appropriate, regardless of the impact it has on the pitch.

I’m in the Wilder Out camp.

I want real change and a move away from being a club anchored in Bladeyness.

To progress we need a fresh approach, a new identity and that will take someone who is not connected to sheffield United to achieve.

Yes we had Slav but he just wasn’t good enough. Praying we get it right this time and we progress as a football club on and off the pitch.

UTB!!!!

Without going down a rabbit hole Slav was expected to play attacking style with no wingers and ageing Norwood and Fleck.

sorry, don't think I explained myself very well.

I am all for creating a new, more positive football identity but hope this can be done as part of a wider Blades identity. Why can't we have a team that is built on an ethos of being hard working, down to earth and part of the wider Sheffield community, whilst also play positive, attack minded football.

For me, that is really important rather than just being an "insert name here" united where none of the city comes through.

I accept i might be in a minority

This is it, managers aren’t like players, we need one in the next week or so. I expect it to be Sellés (being an Ex-Chief football Data Strategist and all) but I hope we pay compo for someone else.
It'll be a purely money ball decision, nothing to with a manager's record. Selles wouldn't be the end of the world compared to what I feel they might come up with?!?

Thats what "get away from Bladeyness" means when I hear it.
Lets just change the crest, get a new nickname now the steelworks have closed and "modernise the red and white stripes". We'll have moved with times then, it'll help us move forward.

The question for me with that regards, is why hasn't Wilder done this himself then instead of his boring safety first, negative, disjointed, square pegs in round holes football?

Why do we always have to be a hard working team? Why can't we move on from what we were in the 1980s and 1990s?

Not a pop at you, but our fans often accused the club of a lack of ambition. I'd argue some need to take a look in the mirror.

I'm sick to death of the "Sheffield United Way" I'm sick of us always being known as a gritty hard working team who wear teams down and grind out results. Ironically Wilder changed this when he first arrived as only Danny Wilson had gone against this since Spackman.

Who are the people saying that? I haven’t seen anyone say that? Can you provide some examples?
You think people wouldn't say yes to a concrete bowl ground on the outskirts of town?
You think there aren't people that would modernise the crest given the chance?
Im going off on a tangent, its irrelevant now, I'm just saying I can't get my head around people not wanting as strong of an identity as possible.
