God's country ...... Rovrum!
A few rumours circulating that ex- wendy Chris O'Grady is on the target list

Apparently, signed a 2 year deal with the Dingles, so 1 year left

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I'd take him if Porter doesn't renew. O'Grady is a decent player, impressed me when we last played the piggies. Could never understand why they let him go.

One of the wendies i know was gutted when jones let him go and his all round game is definately better than porters.

He would do well at this level.

Wednesday fans were not impressed he was let go.

No where near prolific enough even when he played in this division - If we hadn't signed Porter then I might have seen a role for him but we need a goal scorer and whilst O'Grady is a decent player and a good target man he doesn't score enough goals to make that crucial difference to a championship chasing side.

15 in the league above last season! I, for one, would be delighted to sign him. He would be an excellent partner for a more prolific goalscorer (NC will play 4-4-2 far more often next season) and also do the 'lone striker' well. I'd rather have him than Billy Sharp, for example.

Let's leave behind the juvenile 'played for Pigs' nonsense, eh? He's a professional footballer, not a Pig fan.

I really don't understand why anybody wouldn't want him, he signed for Wednesday and did a good job for them (that's not his fault). His goals helped keep Barnsley in the league and last season helped them challenge for survival longer than expected. He is proven at this level and more importantly proven at the level above.

Where as you pick on anyone who talks about re-signing former players or bringing through youngsters. There is nobody more juvenile than you when getting your point across. This post isn't even about Billy, yet you manage to finish off with trademark comment.

You say O'Grady would play well with a prolific striker so why wouldn't you want both players. If you're wanting 442 then who would O'Grady's partner be? So where are you playing your man Scougs in this 442 you think he will play? I am not sure he is suitable to play in a centre 2. Considering Nigel is always talking about signing a main striker I think we are going to stick with last seasons magic formation. to be honest I think we are going to have a a squad than which allows us to change formations without making subs. Scougs, Baxter and Murphy point to that.

Apart from the odd couple of comments, I think the majority have said they would welcome O'Grady with open arms.

So only Axel Smeets on this post said he wouldn't sign O'Grady and nothing was mentioned of his Wednesday connections as a reason.

Not necessarily just looking at your response or any others on this forum but the general feedback from fans on other social media sites etc. (who mostly are immature keyboard warriors granted)

O'grady could play with in a few different systems for us 4-4-2 he scored quite a few goals with Madine at Wednesday. And 4-5-1 surely his strongest asset is his strength, hold up play and pace which is needed 'up-top' on your own. This makes me believe he would be a great signing for us.

I think we will bring in two more strikers, certainly by October at the latest. I don't think Sharp will be one of them and I sincerely hope he isn't. I look at the player he is now and say "No thanks". His Bladey Blade credentials don't put a single goal in the back of the net. I have no doubt at all that COG would be far better for SUFC than Sharp here and now in 2014.

It's not former players I'm against, far from it. It's the risible notion that we should recruit players because they are Blades or have played for us previously. There can be no other reason for repeated calls for the likes of Stead, Blackman et al, can there? On the other hand, I would charter a private jet to bring back Coady and The Beard.

One of the many great things about NC is his flexibility. His objective is a relatively small squad, all good enough to be regular starters, then it's a matter of form, injury and suitability for a particular game. That goes for formations as well as individual selections.

I ❤️ Scoogs as I may have mentioned previously. I am also a Baxter fan. However, if neither are automatic starters I can live with that, because it will mean we have a very fine Sheffield United team and that's what matters and should matter to all of us, not whether Bladey Bill has a triumphant homecoming.

Did you set this up for him to tweet yesterday?

I'm not convinced that 442 is going to be NC's preferred formation next season, we already have more than enough midfielders and he's still looking to bring at least one more in.

I wouldn't be surprised if we play the same 4141 formation that he seemed to prefer this season, just with a "recognised" striker in place of Baxter, but as last season we seem to have players that will make our formation more flexible/fluid. On this basis I'm struggling to see many better options than CoG.

I like my teams to be pacy, and that alone would discourage me from signing BS.

Local journalists in not having the foggiest shocker.

"Journalists" flatters them. They are hack reporters, nothing more.

Twitter is the only thing that preserves their self-importance in this age of instant communication.

Harsh on Alan Biggs - he's a sound bloke and a respected journo

Doesn't he 'write' for the Daily Mail? That's hpretty conclusive, I would have thought.

I respect very few reporters. They get so much wrong but never an apology.

The court reporter is probably some spotty oinker with a bit of bum fluff between his nose and lip. The rest of his time may be spent on "Hatch Match and Dispatch" I suppose we can take some consolation from this, since one, J Clarkson went on to make a fortune when he moved past the funeral cars to those on Top Gear. Oh--- I have re read your post Yes, they do get it wrong.

Adendum Reporters creed "Why let the truth get in the way of a good story"

Clough has said he is on a list of many strikers, but has not made any contact with Barnsley.
