Can I be the first to say that he is pinching a living and I'll drive him to any club that will take him off our hands...
Not even seen him in a shirt yet.

Humour mate. Not particularly good I grant you, but humour. Not even seen him in a shirt yet.![]()
Scored a couple against us a few years back. Likes to get into the oppostion box judging by these goals
That long ago?
pommpey
To say he has a cracking left foot, he scored two against us - one with his right foot and the other a header!Sod the full back, who's that in a red and white shirt banging in a thronker? We should sign him
Edit: Apologies I've been beaten to it![]()
'Bury have also increased the valuation of their fixed assets from £1.2 million to £6 million.'. Really? And no one bats an eyelid at how ridiculous that is.This is the reason he's been sold. (link below). Bury are in massive debt, and are leaking money at a rapid rate.
They are having a fire sale, to unload some wages, and maybe bring a few fees in.
Looks like the lad is their best player, and a firm fans favorite too.
Very good signing. Well done Wilder!

Left side looks strong. Brayford and AN Other on the right. Couple of centre halves and a CM and we're almost done.
Same here, would be well chuffed with Tafazolli.
Got to say, I thought it'd take much longer for us to start bringing players in.
Really liking what Wilder's doing so far, both in words and in deed.
I'd suggest that if there is a an increase of that magnitude they haven't done a valuation since we won the FA Cup.Asset revaluations are strictly controlled and the auditors would have had to sign them off. If Bury hadn't revalued Gigg Lane (and whatever else they own) in a while then they'd be entitled to do so.
Well, that's how I think it is but Sean Thornton is a better person to confirm as he's better at technical accounting.
What is the current practice for valuing players? I recall for a while they weren't included as assets as their values are so volatile but I suspect that's no longer the case
Thanks but please don't use the term EPL.They are usually capitalised (i.e. 'valued') at their purchase cost and this is written down over the period of the contract. Obviously an EPL club will have an anticipated end 'resale value' at the end of the contract period.
This does not apply to us as we make all players shit so that they have no value at the end of their contract. This is a clever scheme to prevent long arguments with our auditors, and so it keeps their fees down.

So far so good ........ now's when we see whether there really is going to be proper financial backing from the Board or whether its talk as usual ..........
Two reasonable signings in the bag ....... just need another 8 / 10 now and we're on !!
UTB & FTP

That, and youth teamers have no NBV so it's all profit when we sell them donchaknow. This does not apply to us as we make all players shit so that they have no value at the end of their contract. This is a clever scheme to prevent long arguments with our auditors, and so it keeps their fees down.
Achieved. Provided consistent quality (of a sort we require). At this level.
The best left-back I think we've had in League 1 these past years was LJF, and I always remember him for being better going forward while prone to a dodgy moment at the back. I'd take that again in a flash.
Spot on...except for the resale bit as any player out of contract can move without a registration transfer fee. Premier League teams will amortise the value of their £20m signing from Dortmiund to zero, just as we will with our £20k signing from Bury.

When a player signs a new contract, are they then revalued, or does the amortisation just continue with the carrying value, and a longer life?
To be fair, Sharp, Hammond, Woolford, Baptiste etc. have very much been there and done it at this level. Just that 2 of them have lost a yard in which time the overall fitness levels in the division have probably improved.
