I know very little (ok, nowt) about youth team development, but if he's any good/showing potential, why would Rangers sell us an 18 year old striker who ripped it up on loan in a very tough (physically) league recently?

Might have said he wasnt signing new contract, and wants to go elsewhere & so instead of losing him for next to nothing, sell him us.

You never know the reasons.

If your young and confident then we are a great club to be at. Hecky did a reyt job with the development side and our rep with young footballers.

Also like this think we are well liked by the bigger clubs to loan their better younger players to us. Mcatee, doyle, MGW, Woodburn (was highly rated and tipped for better things), Hendo. That's just to name a few.

They know that the players will be looked after and enjoy the experience.

i like this from the club a totally different perspective from our other signings in this window 2 young lads already with good reputations at big clubs

Because it's a huge step up from Scottish football, or so Nigel and Simon Clough told us when we signed Stefan Scougall and others from north of the border, and not because Simon's scouting knowledge began and ended in Scotland.

I was pretty much going to write exactly the same. Then I thought I best scroll up and check if nobody else has already posted.

Love this article! ... "Physicality is a hallmark of Eadie’s game as a forward, using his size to outmuscle opponents and break into space."

...“There is a lot of stuff behind it; I need to link play and bring others into the game. I need to do a lot of running out of possession to get the team up the pitch."

Sounds like a future Bamford?

Could be as simple as they have lads in his age group or lower that they see as better prospects and they don’t want to block their pathway. Doesn’t mean he won’t also be a good player

We've got a decent record of picking up young players from other clubs' academies. Sydie Peck was picked up from Arsenal, Phil Jagielka was picked up from Man City and Michael Tonge was picked up from Man Utd.

Good stuff. Hoovering up whoever’s not quite good enough do the top teams and poaching players we like from elsewhere is a good strategy.

His older brother Darren was quite the player for Norwich in the early 90’s. Injuries ruined him.
