Basham played 20 odd games in the PL and 80 odd in the championship before he joined us. It shouldn’t be a big surprise that he’s doing well at this level in a good side with a good manager.

I may get stick fof this, but we have had a few under appreciated, workhorse like players. Bash is the latest (and one if the best) in that mould.

Doyle
Monty
McCall

To name a few. Special shout to McCall

I'm sure McCall would love to know he's being grouped with those two :)

Is it just me or are some of these stats depressing

Not been a brilliant century when you look back has it, despite promotion to the Prem (and one brilliant roller-coaster season), on the up.........................

Here's a depressing thought: in the 21st century, the most scored by a Blades player in a single season is 30 by Sharp 2 years ago.

With the exception of Evans and Beattie, this is more goals than any other player has managed in that period in their entire career with us.

Aside from Deane, Agana and Sir Keith, you could probably go back another 20 years before that.

If you think about it Bash is one of those players (and we have a few) who we instantly took to because they put everything effort wise into the game, & despite being of seemingly limited ability they were classed as "honest triers", but CWAK have done wonders for them & brought out abilities in them that might never have seen light of day with other coaches. No longer are they just work horses, they are talented players in their own right, the chemistry at the club is fantastic right now & long may it continue to be so.

Doyle isn't fit to lace McCall's boots.

Did we instantly take to him?

Well I did Charli, I remember back in the dark league 1 days talking to my dad about him & saying that there was something about him that made me think he was better than some of the crowd appreciated at the time. He was playing in midfield at the time on the right side & sure a lot in the John St stand were giving him stick, but he must have been doing something right as he kept getting picked by Clough & Adkins (shudder).

Was going to say: I remeber liking him initially but being met with a fair ammount of resistance from the people I sit with.

Sloppy first half performance today but what an amazing second half he had.

I should never write Basham off ever.

You always get 100% from him. He's like Bambi on ice at times but always the one player busting a gut to drive forward. If he had composure and technical skill he'd be some player.

Showed a lot of composure to put the ball in the back of the net today from outside the area running at full speed.

Still probably the most underrated part of our team. Every step of our journey there seem to be a few questioning how he’ll fare. If we manage to qualify I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take to European football with ease.

Big Bash joined the Blades on this day in 2014.

Our longest serving player, and still has a few more years in him. He came in and was criticised for being a poor substitute for Conor Coady. 6 years on and he’s now someone that Coady would be a reasonable replacement for whenever the time comes to replace Bash.

Absolute heart of a lion.

His stock is unbelievably high stock with our fans.

I'm 30 & have been watching the Blades for a long time now. For me, he's right up there in my shortlist of heroes (can probably count on one hand).

Having it right, if he was born in Sheffield & was a Blade from birth it'd be a very close call between himself & Sharp.

As a player he's just got better & better. We know all about his competitiveness, his commitment, his work rate... but his talent as a footballer is actually ridiculous at time. I love when he awkwardly snakes his way up field & manages to take the piss. It looks terrible, but is actually brilliant.

Reminds me of this.

What I'd give for him to be able to play another 300
