Has anyone seen their club badge?

http://www.chesterfieldpanthers.co.uk/

We met these guys on the bar in Scarborough last night who play for them and a 'discussion' took place about the 'origins' of the badge! All good fun ;)
They wouldn't have it and one of them was a Pig and he said to me on the quiet how it pains him to wear the club tie :D
It was a good laugh though and they were great fun!

Looks like some bright spark has looked around for a great template and picked ours instead of the crap offered elsewhere.

As for the pig......unlucky.

So, does anybody know anything about this and why they have a badge like ours?

Its a picture of a Panther, with the crooked spire inside it (which Chesterfield is "famous" for.) The crooked spire is Chesterfields answer to Tyne Bridge....well almost.

apparently a virgin got married in the church and the spire laughed so much it twisted it will only go back to normal if another virgin gets married in the church, an old wives tale I know, I tend to go with the builders used untreated wood ( virgin wood)

The new badge just seems to be a new design, maybe because we are using our original badge next season the think they can nick ours.

Apparently the use of unseasoned wood was quite common in those days. The current view is that it was caused by a lack of cross bracing combined with the effect of the lead cladding heating and cooling (thus expanding and contracting) at different rates due to half of it being heated by the sun while the half in the shade not being.
My opinion is that Chesterfield builders are shit, and always have been.

I asked someone at Chesterfield Rugby Club. Apparently it was redesigned when they relocated to a new ground in 2012.

'There isn't any link to SUFC other than the style.'

Make of that what you will.

I side with Blade too Long on this but I'm surprised he hasn't used Charlton's badge as an example which I always thought was very similar to ours -566px-Charlton_Athletic.svg.png

I don't suppose they pinched it either but then I wouldn't be surprised if the Rugby team's manager o whatever weren't a Blade either.

Yeah I thought maybe the founder/owner was big blade and had requested the design as a nod to SUFC.
