The other point with Ched is his age, which I know get dragged out as an excuse but do keep in mind the lad was only 21 last month. Just thinking about the development player comment Blackwell trotted out the other week.

Cresswell is 32, Camara is 33 and Ward is 24 in May, and Hendo is 28.
I think when you look at that is might give things a bit of perspective he is still very much learning his trade. Personally I think he is ahead of all those players at his respective age and should be given games.
Maybe you might start to see that we do have quite a player on our hands who will only get better.

Couldn't be arsed to check up Hendo and we know where Ward was but I think Cresswell was a Premiership player at 21 with you know who and our 'Enery was playing in the top flight in France.

I dont think the age card applies too much to Ched. Although hes only just 21 hes already played (inc international and subs appearances) coming up to 100 games. If he was 17/18 and just starting out then yeah id agree with you. The fact is, although of course he is still developing in the game, at this stage in his career and at this level, i feel he should be contributing more than he has done so far.

He last few appearances have been better, but he is still given lots of slack. Some players would have loved that luxury (Cotterill for example). How long can we wait? If we are serious about promotion we need all the strikers to be contributing. Nowt wrong with 1 - 0 wins of course, but they could so easily be 1 - 1s. We are already playing catch up so we dont have the luxury of being able to lose too many more games.

Cheers Len,

According to Wiki (not exactly 100%) but Cresswell was at York or Mansfield,

and using the same source  Camara was in Switzerland.

Casper,

I kind of agree however if you look at the likes of Milner (24 now ) playing games at an early age doesn't always mean you will be consistent earlier. Plus to be fair to Ched he has had one full season at Norwich and that's it.

Look he will either do it or he won't. I think he has shown promise, some don't, that's fair enough but Ched playing how he did on Saturday at 21 is promising enough for me.

Bob - aren't you losing sight our primary objective here - which if for Sheffield United to gain promotion - not to see if an under achieving highly paid professional can develop his game?

Looks like Cresswell signed for Wednesday in the 98/99 season which means he was playing in the Premiership at 21 unless my maths are wrong.
Enery didn't make it at Strasbourg but had played for the full Senegal side at 21 and went on to score in the 2002 WC finals.
I'm sure we could all point out lots of players who've achieved plenty more by the age of 21. We've had two come through our ranks in the last couple of years.
I admire your loyalty but still not seen anything yet to remotely justify a £3m fee.

Thought Ched played well on saturday, hes awareness of others players positions and hes use of the ball was alot better.

He seems to be getting fitter and a good run in the side should bring the best out of him.

I thought he was the linchpin in everything we did well in an attacking sense
