Does a medical include an IQ test? If so I'll start a rumour that he's failed it.

Of all the 780 posts you've made on BM-based rumours, this is the big one .

If I was a Norwich fan I would be a little upset that we were chasing Evans. Don't think he is good enough for the PL in all honesty. Wouldn't mind them taking him off our hands though. Would rather try and get rid of Boggy & Cresswell first though. But obviously the interest in those two will be minimal.

I suspect that Wilson, having worked with Cresswell before, won't be looking to move him on. Boggy I could see being moved on even if we sell Evans.

I've seen £1 million quoted as a possible fee for Evans. I still think he could turn out to be a success elsewhere, but based on his time with us that would be a great fee to recoup.

Didn't know they had worked together before. Which club was that with? Did DW get anything out of Cresswell back then?

It was yonks ago when wilson was at Wednesday. 31 games, 2 goals.

That can't be right surely? Only thing that would make that realistic is if someone has offered more money - if this was the only bid on the table, we'd surely snap their hands off?

For once, there could be a bidding war for one of our players :)

I can only think of one example where that's happened in the 20 years I've been a fan - the Naughton sale where Everton also came in publicly with a substantial bid. Always thought it was surprising that more didn't try and buy Jags.

Quote from Wilson in today's Star:

“The situation needs to be sorted out one way or another as quickly as possible,” Wilson said. “We all need to know where we are likely to stand so we can get on with things one way or the other. That’s not a criticism of anybody. It’s just stating fact.

“If Ched is going to leave then I’m sure he’d like to know where his future is sooner rather than later. Likewise, we want to know if he’s going to be on his way or staying with us because that could change some of the things we do.”

Sounds like plenty of clubs have made enquiries, but none have come up with an actual offer.

Well by the sounds of it, Ipswich won't be buying him... From TWTD:

Jewell Makes New Striker Bid
Wed 20th Jul 2011 12:00

Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that the Blues have made an offer for another striker but says that the target isn’t Sheffield United frontman Ched Evans. The Welshman has been linked with Town on a number of occasions this summer with reports on Monday claiming a £1 million bid had been turned down.

Jewell says he has made a move for a third new frontman of the summer but not for the same player he was chasing during last week’s Holland trip: “We’ve made an offer for a striker and we’ll hopefully hear from them on Thursday. That’s a different striker [than we were waiting on before].”

While Town have not made an offer for Evans, the Blues boss says that a future approach is not out of the question: “Someone said to me that we’ve had a £1 million bid turned down. That isn’t the case.

“People are speculating about Ched Evans. He’s a player that’s on the list but we haven’t made an offer for him.”

The newly-relegated Blades are desperate to offload Evans’s £15,000-a-week wages with the 22-year-old now understood not to have joined the rest of his team-mates on the club’s pre-season training camp in Malta.

Middlesbrough, Leicester and Cardiff have also been linked with the former Manchester City man, who joined the Blades for £3 million in the summer of 2009.

I reckon we will be lumbered with the useless sack of shit since he is no where near anyone's idea of a first choice striker.
If he stays I'll bet he won't bring his Banjo to league one either.
Probably better off if he gets convicted and we can terminate his contract for gross misconduct.
Useless fecker.

I couldn't get past the first bit that said we'd turnined down £1M....:D

If we got rid on a free it would be excellent business.

I'm willing to put money on that he won't (aside from the complicated matter of his off field issues).

a) He'll go for a million plus to a Championship side,
if not...
b) He's score a hatful in this league.

Fancy a wager?

After another mug took Henderson off us, you never know about any sale value.

As for scoring a hatful, you'd have to quantify "a hatful" for someone earning million pounds a year in England's third division..

Luke Becket and Neil Mellor scored a hatful in this league. We'd still be better off trading in and saving £800,000 per year.

This is an extremely frustrating. I understand the need to try and recoup on 'investment', but the quicker we get Evans out if the door the better. Personally I think we would be better of cutting our losses and shipping him out for any sort of fee. In fact if I would probably let him go for free now. It could be the difference between getting promoted or finishing mid table. I think the team is currently an upper mid table team. With no more transfer activty I predict we will finsh around 10th. However if we free Evans (and Monty's) wages up in the next week or so and Wilson has time to bring in 2 or 3 hungry, athlectic footballers with a point to prove then I think we will be closer to a to being a top 6 team. Spending the money wisely and a bit of luck might mean that we are up there with the likes of Huddersfield.

I have heard (probably untrue) that our Mr Evans has failed a medical at Norwich.
If it is true then it might explain why he hasn't gone anywhere.

I agree that his wages and fee (whatever that could be) would be better utilised on other more suitable (and hungry) players.

I suppose that whatever happens we will just have to wait and see.

Source? sounds like a load of shit to me

It could be shit-but it might not.
However one of your threads was about Mark Robins being seen at the Lane wasn't it Dazzler??

Source is a contractor at BDTBL, or the academy, I don't know which, then to me via a workmate who is a friend of said contractor.

Yes it was, however the source of that dubious sighting is now dead to me. Dead i tell thee. ; )

The silence is certainly deafening, almost a week since the glorious 19th and no news whatsoever.

it certainly is Jim, but none more so than the general silence coming from the club. The summer has returned to being painfully slow with little or nothing to be said on the club website, in the media and on the message boards. The club hammered the official site with video's from Malta last week, but now we have returned to the odd Wilson comment and news of fairs and open days. The Star has run it's ink dry on stories of Monty and Evans and seems to have given up and I have never seen this message baord so slow before.

The fact neither have featured pre-season tells you all you need to know though, only a matter of time. All we can hope is that whoever we have lined up doesn't move elsewhere which has already happened with one player by all accounts.

From 'The Stir';

United’s preparations for the match take place against a backdrop of uncertainty surrounding Ched Evans’ future after Ipswich Town confirmed they want to take the Wales striker to Portman Road.

With at least two other Championship clubs known to be interested in acquiring Evans’ services, United are hopeful of concluding a transfer with the next seven days.
