Great that Ched had a positive impact but let's not get carried away just yet when he's doing it week in week out against the likes of John Terry, Ben Gibson and people of that caliber or he bags a hat-trick on Sept 23rd then we can get carried away.....let's hope it's on the 23rd!!!!

What would you pinpoint exactly to argue why he has a long way to go?
Time out of the game at Championship level, and staying injury free. Still he has made an appearance for us, and hopefully will go on to do it in the season when points are at stake. BTW who's arguing?

Whether Evans turns out good or not, I am not looking forward to the journey where half of the fans will overhype every little thing he does, and the other half will condemn any mistake or lacklustre performance he has. Can we please just treat him like any other player?
You could replace the word Evans with the word Sharp and that paragraph would also work.

It'll be reyt, just like it has been with Billy. :)

Pleased that it sounds like he's done very well tonight and turned the game for us.

Hopefully he is fit enough to be on the bench in Saturday to give us another option.

For me at least he played 40+ minutes and got some fitness into his legs. Didn't see the game, so can't really comment on the performance. We are going to need every resource we have to make a move in this division. Forget the hype, CW doesn't like fancy Dans, he builds teams and teamwork. We should all shut the f*ck up and let Tufty and the crew get on with it. I'm sure it is unsettling and counter productive to the whole team when Ched gets singled out whichever way you think about him. I even think he is embarrassed about it. He just wants to get on with the job of getting back to fitness and feeling part of something great that is happening at the Lane. Can we ban threads like this for a while?

The whole squad have had time out of the game at Championship level. I know he's been injured and needs to build fitness but he could, potentially, be playing regularly within weeks. You said you hoped he'd make it back to the first team some time this season which suggested he might not. I just wondered what your reasons were for thinking his prospects were so poor.

Put him out with yer sexy wee Clayton!

He might has lost some pace and match fitness, but his striking off the ball hasn't changed. Superb technique.

I would say who else do we have in the team who could get hold of a stray ball like Evans did tonight and belt it unstoppably toward goal?
(A. Nobody since Michael Brown)

How can we have a thread of 39 posts before 2 people at the same time state the same thing?
(Ok you got in first but I'm a slow pissed typist)

Nathan Thomas scored as well. Why aren't there threads lauding him?

nope try reading some of my other positive posts, but this is one thing i have too many doubts on, sounds like he did well tonight, good on him, but im certainly not going to get excited yet
"Sounds"!?, he did very well, I thought he stood out since replacing Hanson, got stuck on, influential in all 3 goals, never stopped and dealt with everything thrown at him! We will also come up against worse players than Bakayoko and Otzumer this season!, Walsall were the best team we played last year, and the only ones that made us look league 1 last year also.

What a load of wet nellies on here.

We were totally bullied at the front for over an hour. Evans came on and he was solid as a rock when they tried to knock him off the ball. That works at any level.

A sight of goal and the ball left his foot at 100 mph 2 feet off the ground every time. That works at any level.

It's like Kane, you can't tackle him if he's hit it before you've got to him.

I was unsure about him, but now I'm certain.

By the way Beard and Lundstram were particularly dire in a generally poor outfit. Thomas looked lively though.

We were losing before he came on, showed desire, passion, some pace and technical ability, it's a good start for Ched considering he's not had a full pre season, delighted for him and the team...he will be an asett to the squad and have a pivotal role to play in my view this year (if we can keep him for)

He did alright against a shit team, simple as that, don't get too carried away. Hes nowhere near ready for ninety minutes, that was also obvious.

Thought Brayford did ok.
