If anyone can get Ched back to his best then surely it has to be CW and his backroom team.

There is no point to trying to find reason behind her thinking. In her mind he was guilty before the case even made it to court.

It's all about men and privilege in her mind. Although really its down to the fact she probably suffered an abusive relationship and has decided every man is guilty regardless.

People need to accept that Ched Evans was the unfortunate victim of a miscarriage of justice, he is not a rapist, he was guilty of foolish infidelity, but were that a barr to a career in football, the Premier League would consist of about eight teams!

Saddo Jean Hatchet needs to find a new drum to bang, before she/he finds her/himself stood in the dock! :)

I wasn't expecting an announcement full of exuberant hyperbole, and certainly not from Wilder. Low key on this was surely the obvious response on all fronts, minimise expectations and keep down attention on the club.

Of course, it could also be Wilder sees it as nothing more than a squad signing and nowt to get excited about.

Because in a case like this his 'guilt' could never be established by fact alone, it was always going to be decided by opinion. It's not like a murder where there are five witnesses, CCTV footage and DNA evidence and there's no question of guilt, it was down to whether twelve people thought he was guilty.
By being able to afford really good barristers who were able to convince an appeal court to allow further evidence that some still believe shouldn't have been allowed and convince a second group of twelve people that this 'evidence' was relevant, by casting enough doubt in the minds of the jury and convince this second group of people to disagree with what the first group believed, he was able to get his verdict overturned.

If I had been found guilty, I doubt I could have even afforded to pay for any more legal advice, never mind afford the cost of the appeal process and re-trial that he had to pay for. Whether I was 'guilty' or not. So, in the eyes of the law, I'd have remained guilty.

It's common practice in football and elsewhere for the manager's / boss's comments to originate in the PR department, not from their own mouth. The boss / manager is then asked to OK the comment.

You say by being able to afford really good barristers to allow for further evidence... He was able to do this in the first instance, financially.

Financial resource has been a constant throughout. The evidence hasn't.

It was testimony rather than 'evidence'. It wasn't like they'd just found some footage of the incident and it showed her consenting.

Without the money they wouldn't have been able to afford a barrister good enough to even convince an appeal court to allow it.

I get your point that if nothing had been there at all, no amount of money could (legitatemately) have caused the decision to be overturned but the fact remains that without money there wouldn't have been an appeal.

Elated to see Ched return to the club, fantastic signing, I'm sure he'll get the goals in the Championship that we'll need and pleased that Wilder is onside with it (might have had reservations if it was strictly a McCabe signing).

Poor lad has had to live with a lot of shit in the past few years, now thankfully all behind him as it turned out he was an innocent man afterall, as many Blades thought all along.

Welcome home "Super Cheddy Evans ..."
