Its finally happened after all these years, I've got a tear in my eye.... :D

'Ched Evans has re-signed for Sheffield United.

Following the completion of a medical, the Blades have agreed an undisclosed fee with Chesterfield for the Welsh international to officially return to Bramall Lane.
A three-year deal was concluded after discussions between the clubs at board level and the player meeting United manager Chris Wilder.

The Blades boss said: "The signing is just one element of the plans we have drawn-up for next season. We have done our homework on the player. We pride ourselves on team spirit - as the fans have seen this season - and plan to bring in players who can be part of that.

"Ched comes to us with targets to achieve along the way. With a full pre-season with us we believe he can provide us with options up front and score goals."

Ched said: "I am delighted to be back. I still feel I have plenty to prove in football both at club and international level and I believe I can achieve those goals at United, playing in front of the terrific fans whose support I have always appreciated.

"I am very grateful to Chesterfield, the board and football management for giving me an opportunity to return to the game. It is just disappointing that it has come in season which has seen the club suffer relegation. I would like to thank the Chesterfield fans who made me feel so welcome."

Evans, 28, originally signed for United in July 2009, scoring 48 goals in 86 starts for the club, which included 35 goals in the 2011-12 campaign. He scored 14 times in his final 11 games for the club.'

I feel like that report is neglecting to mention something, for the life of me can't figure out what that is....ah never mind

WELCOME BACK CHED :)

(Edit: Didn't the club ban people from buying shirts with 'Evans' on the back during the 2014 saga? Has that ban been lifted? XD)

Sure it's not a splash of jizz?

That's one....or is it two?

Was there a cut off time for the number of Ched threads?

On topic....now it's finally official, done, dusted and been debated to the depths of the earth and back for years....can we please just let the bloke and the club get on with it and wait until the football starts. I have no clue how he will do, no idea how many he will score. Likewise I don't give two lumps whether he was Wilders choice, whether there was an initial contract the club once backed out of or if he was in the process of suing KM for breach of a contract.....he's here now so it's up to him to get on with it now.

As with any player, welcome to the club again. But a word of warning....just in case you do read these posts. Fuck this club and fans about again....be disruptive in training or be half arsed or sulky in games and I will find you, and kick your arse from Shirecliff to middlewood!

Been 50/50 over this for footballing reasons. It's happened and I look forward to him smaahing a few in the Kop end.

Wow, talk about cautious, guarded comments from Wilder. Very cagey.

Hardly a ringing welcome to the player.

Really?
I didn't think that. Perhaps the whole arrival has been soured somewhat by a certain newspaper reporting this a couple of weeks back.
Matters not anyway....if he's lazy, shit or pisses off the manager he will be costing the club to sit in the bench or train with the kids. Up to Evans....prove himself or fuck off.

The past is the past, good luck to him, the ball's in his court now. Let's hope we can get back something like the player we lost, if anyone can sort him, Tufty will and the fact he's taken a chance is good enough for me.

Onwards and upwards :)

Bah, you're just happy coz you can stroll round Fleetwood without a care in the world. Cod army my arse (perhaps you need that on a T-shirt).

Certainly not convinced for footballing reasons, let alone any other reason. But if Wilder's happy with him then so am I, and I'll say welcome back (not home) Ched

I don't see it like that.

We all know Ched is a risk.
At his worse he could be the worse striker at the club and rarely get a game.
At his best he could be the best player at the club.

Wilder can't exactly rely on him because we don't know how he'll perform.
Hence why he's saying "the singing is one element", meaning there will be more signings and the whole season won't be relying on Ched to find his form.

Yeah, that's certainly how I read it. Sort of out of character for Wilder.

Difficult to interpret though. Like Loughboro says above, it could just be about managing expectations. Isn't necessarily a sign that he's not fully happy about it.

Strange though.

As you say, the balls in Evans' court. Up to him to prove himself.

Yeah, such a relief that they're only a division behind us

Unfortunately, they were the last team to beat us so they're still throwing that one at me. Just need Blackpool to slip up next week, then the pigs and all's right with the football World for the summer.

..well that's putting a very positive spin on a rather cagey welcome!

Compare that to what Wilder said when Clarke joined:

Wilder remarked: "We are delighted to secure his signature, we've worked hard to get Leon over the line.

"He is widely recognised as one of the top centre forwards in the division and he will complement what we already have in our strike force.

"We have youth, legs, ability, pace and experience and all can score goals. Leon is experienced and knows the division very well, he we will lead the line and the added bonuses are that he is a good character and still has the desire to achieve."
