Che Adams

We probably get as many chances in and around the edge of the box as other teams. Trouble is we either don’t pull the trigger or

To shoot accurately you need balance, ball control, poise, technique, and the ability to create half a yard of space

And which of our players have any of that ?

Adams has always been a decent player but he was a bit of a knob when he was with us, most people dislike him for bad mouthing us when he left for Brum. It does seem like he has got his head down or grown up since then. One thing is for sure none of our strikers come close to him or DCL who we let go for peanuts.

Love him or loathe him. What a great goal he scored. Can’t remember the last time we scored a goal like that with an instinctive bullet of a shot from out of the area. What a complete surrender today’s game was.

Two from league one spring to mind - Leon away at Port Vale (was just inside the area), and Lafferty away at Rochdale.

Only other two i can remember, although they weren't bullets, were Norwood away at Brentford and Coutts at home to Reading.

Point taken though, in that we hardly score this type of goal. The ball usually floats into row Z.

Stevens scored one last season which was similar style and position to the half volley he attempted yesterday that went blazing over.

Probably could sum up our season right there lol

we never have a shot from outside the area were obsessed with creating overloads out wide then making a complete bollox of it but thats got to be the managers tactics im afraid it doesnt work anymore weve had our time with this system only my opinion mind

The great Che Adams has scored 9 premier league goals in 56 games (4 of them against us).

The much maligned scapegoat Oli McBurnie has scored 7 premier league goals in 57 games.

I know it’s not the only thing that goes into it, but purely in goal returns they aren’t far apart. And that’s with McBurnie playing in a team that creates roughly 1 chance a game (yes he should have scored some of those).

Billy Sharp scored 230 odd goals with no technique and constantly being in the defenders pocket?

Obviously he wasn't.
But I don't remember him getting many with long shots from long shots from outside the area

Leeds at the lane, half volley into roof of net? Shrewsbury away? scores more goals and scores just as many as Che Adams from outside area.

Thats the end of McBurnies International career, if it wasn't over already.

Wonder what Scottish fans think of English players with no history in their youth set up commit to Scotland just for international football.

Ireland are same, if they are not English they were born in Northern Ireland.

If they want to play and they are good enough get them in. I'm just delighted it's someone decent for a change and not another Chris Martin or Jordan Rhodes.

Are English fans that fussed about Jack Grealish and Declan Rice playing for Ireland as kids?

Difference between Grealish/Rice and Adams is Rice and Grealish are English not Irish.

Ireland doesn’t have any big clubs who can invest decent money in youth development. Their main hope is kids being picked up by English clubs and going through the academy. Scotland have two big clubs and three or four reasonable sized clubs that should be developing Scottish players. And a long history of professional football. I think I’d be more despondent if I were Scottish.

The majority of our players are Scottish though. I could understand if 90% of the squad weren't Scottish, but that's not the case. A wee suplement from the Scottish grannie crowd isn't cause for too much concern.

The good ones are English though. 😉

I wish he was still here.

Does anyone really use the word "horrid" any more? Maybe I'll sqweam and sqweam and sqweam until I make myself sick.

Whatever next? Che Adams is a Miscreant and a ne'erdowell and he should not be offered the King's Shilling?
Pretty sure it's still used at Hogwarts.

Probably same as our cricket and rugby fans do (me included) ie don't give a shit if they're good 😁

I would swap Che Adams for every one of our strikers.
but would Southampton take them

Serious question - if we offered Brewster, McB, McG, Billy and Burke as a straight swap for Adams, would they accept

I have just read that back, and thats 6 players for 1, who has only scored 9 goals in 2 seasons, and the answer is still 'NO' - FFS.

Are you referring to Northern Ireland?

If you mean the Republic of Ireland 9 of their last starting 11 were born in the Republic of Ireland. Not being confrontational I just don't understand what you mean.
