I suppose who ever designed it thinks it is MAGIC that the last minute of time counts down in 10th's of a second........it really is a pathetic design based on ideas jettisoned in computers in the 90's

If you mean this - then the graphics appear to mimic some sort of 1990's DOS based computer game.

Was it designed by a primary school pupil?

Who's in charge of all this crap?

I have to agree. Even my wife, who knows nothing about scoreboards and even less about football, commented that the new scoreboard looks smaller and cheaper than the previous one and harder to read.

Every season that goes by in this division we lose a bit more quality, on the pitch and off it. We are where we belong. We are a well established 3rd division team now and we are behaving like it. We have become what we have strived to escape. We deserve to be here and we are now accepting our fate by filling the team with 3rd division "Average Joe" type players, having tacky logo's on our shirts from tuppence Ha'penny local rag-tag sponsors and replacing quality with cheap tack on the field and throughout the club.

Pains me to admit it, but at our peak in 1971, when Alan Ball (then of Arsenal), described Sheffield United as "a glorified 3rd division club), he was right.

Premiership potential - 3rd division mentality.

What's wrong with Doordeals.co.uk or alpharooms? Seriously, how any sponsor thinks that shirt/perimeter advertising is anything other than an ego trip is deluded. "Yeah, seeing the alpharooms ad. on the John Street stand reminds me I must book a hotel room." So you go on the hotel websites and look for the best deals to suit you, not because a stuck on transfer on the front of United's shirts has any relevance.

Yep. It's about "brand image" I'm afraid. Take it from me fellas - I know what I'm talking about when it comes to shite like this.

Brand Image is very important for any business, however big or small. It speaks volumes about your business and says a lot about you. If you get the brand image wrong you'll miss out on appealing to your main audience and you won't be as successful as you could be.

Sheffield United is trying to portray itself as a major (even global) football club with Premiership potential. So they stick a logo of a local wooden door company- that looks like cartoon letters that have been coloured in by a child, on the back of their shirts.
:eek::eek::eek:

If you can't see the mis-match there then you must be a Director of Sheffield United FC?

(and in case you want to ask "what should we do then? Refuse to take the sponsorship money off them? The answer is "yes". Or offer these small sponsors something less "mainstream" so it doesn't interfere with the club's image.

The stadium seems to be the only things the club can get right...:(

We're all a bit pissed off, so we pick faults at almost everything..talking of which, when we were chasing the game,George Long had to run 30-40 yards to retrieve the ball cos the "ball boy"was busy holding his flag ffs

Said it once, said it a million times.

Every prospective shirt-buyer should have the option of a clean or sponsored shirt.

I buy the badge on the shirt, NOT the business(es) I have no affinity to.
The club should also remove any form of sponsorship from the kids shirts/shorts too.

after read that i take it you know bugger all

I really liked the fact we'd kept the scoreboard unchanged till now – it was simple, did the job, whereas the new graphics just look rather shit.

Of bigger concern is the big screen we got from Darlington that's showing its age. Randomly flickering, with various parts unreadable. I'd rather it was completely removed than us plod along with it.

same person who told the ball boys they don't need to get the ball any more and the website admins that the logon page doesn't need to be secure. This club is just falling apart at the seams I tell thee.
are these the same people that didnt order any food or hot drinks for the HT break behind the kop

that is because they are all symptoms of the same thing.
the cock ups with the pies. ball boys doing fuck all .. useless stewards. players not wanting to come here.. everyone bored.. dave's chippy as the main sponsor.. it is all a symptom of the same malaise

Yes, we commented on that, but at that point there were two ball boys sat half way up the BL lower tier, so if a wayward shot went into the seats, they were well placed.

Agreed. And another thing that has always struck me as smalltime, tinpot etc is the way that EVERY bit of space around the ground and inside it is plastered with tacky advertising. Go to Arsenal, Man City, Old Trafford etc and compare. Bramall Lane just looks like a local corner shop where the owner makes his own signs using a felt pen and plasters them everywhere. For the sake of a few pounds in revenue - and it can't bring in much, surely - it ruins the stadium.

And another thing, while we're at it. Do we really need that many Blades badges plastered all over the outside of the stadium? Somebody needs to get a grip either in the boardroom or the marketing department, that's for sure.
