Ok, I think you're wrong, he was a good player in the Premiership when he broke through into the 1st team. But you're entitled to your opionion.

Now can you answer the questions put to you about Monty please? :)

quinn was a good player, but then he went seriously down hill, it may be him or our shit coaching staff

and as for monty, what do you want me to say? i dont need to sit and count passes, he isnt good enough simple as, our midfield got ran rings around by a midfield that is in the bottom 4.

Why is he not good enough though? I want to hear fact or reasoning behind peoples opinions.

I think the point that people are making is that one player is being scapegoated for the failings of four.... or a team of eleven.

I don't think there's anyone on here that would say Monty is worldclass... but they are able to look at what he does actually do while nodding to his weaknesses.

This is a slightly more objective approach than blaming him for bombing Gaza, famine in Sudan and slight drizzle in Sheffield.

Extremist posts attract extremist replies :)

Just watch im ffs! he runs around like a headless chicken, he can make a tackle ok, but when he gets it he doesnt know what to do with it, so many attacks break down if the ball ends up at his feet, he gets in peoples way (which nearly cost us a goal at watford) (headed the ball to their player when howard was about to bring it down) just 2 off the top of my head

look, dont you have to question yourself when its the majority that think he is useless!

Not really because I bet it is about a 50/50 split on here as to wether he is a good player or not.

on here maybe, but there are about 20 people on here, the general opinion of all the fans is more like 90/10

Some facebook poll is needed I think to really decide.

Just need to avoid any said Hammers fans trying to take it over.

Solomon, you really don't have a clue about football. FFS (that's just for effect:D)

Solomon, the difference is your claim is your opinion (which you are entitled to). But unless you have interviewed every single Utd supporter out there how can you make the assumption that Mousey his wrong. OK Mousey's 'research' perhaps wasn't the most professional of comparisons but I doubt it is inaccurate.

His comparison between Monty and wonderboy Naughton do say something about the fickle nature of way too many Blades.
IMO

No matter which side you put out there would be eleven footballers on the pitch in United shirts. Not a "football" side, or however you want to term it means a team without a single footballer in it, and the last time I looked all the players at Bramall Lane were footballers. They certainly aren't surgeons, astronauts, wrestlers or beauty therapists are they?
What do people mean by "footballers" anyway? Eleven Tony Curries?

On a different and back-to-topic theme, I'd put this lot out on saturday.

Kenny
Naughton Morgan Killa Sun
Cotterill Halford Monty Hendrie
Sharp Ward

Let's see how a midfield with three players who can pass well, including wingers capable of getting decent balls in can get decent passes through to two short-arses who like the ball played on the grass as opposed to aiming for helicopters.

I like the starting line up you have posted but id be a little worried about central midfield being too defencive.
i'd start with that and if nothings hppening at half time drop sharp in to atacking mid/ cf for halford or monty depending on performance and put webber up front with ward.

Monty is a below average player with a heart of a lion but that does not nor ever will make him a good player. There are plenty of better players who could do a better job in our squad. Fact is Blackie just doesnt fancy them.
And if you dont fancy it then you just dont fancy it.
Solo i agree with you mate hes just not upto it

I really don't know why people keep putting Howard in their squads, he's given less to the team than most so far.

Because sometimes people feel with Monty in the team we are too defensive. Personally I do think Monty is a very useful player but home games like Tuesday we should be looking to attack the game and thus play with creative minded players (i.e hendrie/howard?)

That's pretty much what I think.

Play him away, leave him out at home.

I'd be inclined to ask the 'ball-players' like Howard and Hendrie who they'd like to play with in the middle of the park? Tony Currie always insisted the best player he played with in there was Trevor Hockey, who made Monty look like a schemer of the highest order! Every team needs a bits and pieces, get the ball, cover and keep the shape player in there, whether it's the best of those (Makelele) or the more restricted like Monty. Might sound a bit twisted, but Monty would look a much better player if we actually played on the deck through midfield. Hockey-High knew his job, stop the opposition by any means then give the ball to TC. Monty would be just as effective with the same game-plan, rather than forward as quickly as possible!

For saturday I would go with

Kenny
naugton Morgan Killa Naysmith
Cotterill Monty Howard Hendrie
Webber Henderson

We don't play too defensive with Monty in the side. We just can't attack properly all together....with or without Monty:D

All of the younger fans crave a dominating midfield player of old.

I don't think they exist anymore......probably because the Hockey's of the game are hounded out these days.

Ask any of the old gits who helped TC create magic though.

Interesting thoughts and wisdom as usual SEB!

;)

Get Beightons gert til fill up the bench.

As it sounds like its going to need filling up.

Mind you Kyle Walker will hopefully on the bench.

But some people claim with a couple of ball-players in there we would be more creative.

...Meanwhile, I'm sitting on t'fence
