In fairness, neither did Porter - and yet he came back and scored 11 goals for us. On that basis, a month at Chesterfield doesn't seem a good predictor on ability.
So what you're saying is... With a bit of luck he could be as good as porter. Pheeeeew that's a relief.

Bennett had 140 minutes spread across 1 start and 4 sub appearances for Chesterfield - his one start coincidentally being the only one of those 5 games where they won. Not exactly a huge opportunity to impress. I'm sure if he signs it'll be because Clough rates him highly and thinks he could be a success, regardless of that loan spell.

Seems a strange one if true, we need someone to walk into the team, not another one for the future at this stage.

I'm just kidding, I just take every opportunity possible to rip porter.
I've just read a few things about the young man and he sounds like quite a talent. His goal scoring record at youth international level looks ok too, but aren't we after a more established striker than that?
If I'm honest I think cloughie is trying to get a better version of porter, a strong target man who will bring the likes of Diego, murph and scoogs into the game, unfortunately I think that also means he won't be a 20+ a season goalscorer. I think he's after a player like rob hulse was in his prime.

Don't be suprised to see a former notts forest striker on our books very soon.
GRANT HOLT!?
he's 8/1 on sky bet, he's a beast who can protect our little guys but he also knows where the goal is.
Ok he's in his 30's but as far as loans go I'd snap him up.
He played at forest didn't he!?

So a front line of Porter a kid from Derby and a guy who can score in Scotland, (read Lyle Taylor).........meh

Oh cheer up. On another topic your posts were coming up as ignored. I don't ever remember selecting to ignore you but maybe I'm so ignorant and ignored you without knowing it :D

He's a horrible, cheating, diving bastard of a player and not the sort I want us to be associated with.

We don't need a big, immobile target man. We need someone strong, but pacy, and preferably who doesn't hit the deck when a player runs near to him.

Although I don't believe he is the answer Bennett has got huge potential apparently. About 4 years ago Chelsea did a deal with derby to sign Bennett but because of his age Chelsea offered to move his whole family down London including his grandparents. His dad however pulled the plug on the whole move because he said he wouldn't move down there because he was "shirebrook" born and bread. He is apparently a very clever lad with a great attitude this came from his then teacher and now head teacher at the school. Sounds like a Clough type of player

He wouldn't be a top pick of mine but,
But you want Strong, fast, and scores 20+ a season?....There's not of them ya know. Certainly not many that want to play in the 3rd division

I can only imagine how you'll react if Ched Evans returns.

:)

I'd be clapping like a seal. I pay to watch footballers on the pitch and Ched usually behaved impeccably. I don't recall him being a cheat. What I do recall is him being as strong as an ox, in his good season, and not chucking himself about like that big lump of shit, Holt.

Yep, I'd welcome the Evans back with open arms as long as he's still fit enough to play.

Hmmmm. Who cares about forcing sex with women when there's big issues like gamesmanship to contend with....:D

I watch football to be entertained by what I'm watching, not what the players do in their spare time. I watch films starring actors with questionable morals, listen to music by people who've done disgusting things, so why should football be so different? I can separate the two. I wouldn't clap Ched for being a rapist, I'd clap him for being a good footballer and for entertaining me.

I wouldn't be entertained by watching Holt lollop into the box then throw himself to the ground.

It's not really what I saw implied in your first post, but I take your point.

I think we could do worse in this division, but that's another story.

You really need to reevaluate listening to lostprophets now ya know ;)
I agree, he's a footballer to me and nothing more. I'd rather him be a role model but meh, how many of them are!?

Well I don't have it blaring out in the car, with the windows down any more, if that's what you mean by reevaluate! :(

Perhaps I should have chosen a better phrase than "not the sort I want us to be associated with." More a case of us signing him not encouraging the type of football I want to pay to see. I also don't want us to be seen as a cheating, diving team. It doesn't help when referees get wind of this type of reputation.

I'd be happy with any of Becchio, Holt, Leon Clarke, Mackail-Smith or Craig Davies. They're all getting on but if Clough is looking for a loan I think these players are capable of scoring the goals to send us up.

Think it will be Craig Davies myself
