It's all they've got. They're absolutely praying that should we go up we'll struggle. They base this on us currently being league one, not taking into account the quality football we play or the quality management we have.

They think we're not going to strengthen the squad and try to survive with what we have now. They think we'll rely on Billy Sharp alone to score our goals and don't rate him at all. Which is a strange one considering there was a multi page thread on Porktalk bigging him up and pleading for him when they thought there was a chance he might sign for them a couple of seasons ago.

They dread the thought of a Wilder inspired team against their clueless Carlos and shit themselves that our momentum might get us in or around the play offs.

They'll no longer be able to say "mind the gap" or call us 'pub league' unless of course the scrape sixth place, get incredibly lucky and beat the better teams above them and go up.

Then 'la liga' will suddenly become the new pub league.

They truly are the most insecure vile scummy set of fans in football and I can't wait to see them fall apart next season.

Quality post, says it all....

I had a draft post of salient points, but just deleted it, this above says it all, well said Fatty.

Goes to show that spending (wasting) millions on players can count for fuck all. If it carries on and pigs finish outside the play offs they'll have spent millions and ended up on place worse off. Give me a hard working, tight knit group of players with a good attitude and work ethic over a team of expensive individuals. This time last year Carlos was the greatest manager to ever grace the championship and that he'd lead them to the prem, how's that going you MASSIVE bells. UTB

And that's the difference between some managers and people like Bassett and Wilder. The latter two have a good eye for players with character. Managers like fucking Carvalhal think that throwing massive sums at players will mask their own deficiencies. It will - for a short time. Wendy have been here before. In the 90s they wasted fortunes on shite like Gille de Bilde and other twats just grateful for a last payday.

One of the many reasons Wendy fans are jealous of us. Good old fashioned grit will take you a long way. Wilder is perfectly in tune with us - rather like Klopp is the ideal choice for Liverpool.

Every time I hear it I get confused. Am I supposed to be surprised? I've been watching League One for a while now, do they think I haven't noticed that some teams down here are a bit shit? Do they think I've forgotten how the league system works where the best clubs play in the higher levels?

Of course it's a big step up, but it was when they made it, it was when Barnsley made it, it was when every other team that's ever been promoted from any divsion made it.

The higher standard of football is exactly what I'm excited about.

And how did you reply to Mark The Pitsmoor Retard?

Today, they played Barnsley. On Tuesday, they play Rotherham with Ipswich, QPR and Cardiff still to come. Admit it, Blades. Wouldn't you be shitting it with those giants of football up against us?

We now see why Caaarlosss (not many piggies on RS saying 'In Caaarlosss we trooost' now) was sacked from his previous fifteen managerial jobs. That's why he hasn't bothered learning English. That's why his nonce-like coat with the cheap fur collar from Primark looks so fucking stupid. But we Blades salute you, Carlos. 'Agent Wilson?', more like 'Agent Carlos' whose wasted millions of the pigs' ill-gotten gains on journeymen players who don't give a fuck.

The biggest thing that will be worrying the S6 hierarchy is the money they will have spent on transfer fees , salaries , contracts with no return . In camera terms they have spent money on a Leica but it's turned out to be a disposable Kodak .

There is no manager that can turn S6 around . The journeyman players is a good point you make . Who in there right mind would pay Fletcher and Hooper £35K per week .

I know we have had a torrid shite 6 seasons , but every dog has its day , and it would not surprise me if we achieve a play off spot next season in the championship .

We will be a unknown quantity , not taken that seriously , and surprise of the season .

The championship will not be as difficult as league 1 , with the type of football we play .

It's mental since Christmas it's all we have heard how the Championship is the such a massive step up and we can't compete and we will be relegated. Well we will spend some money ok maybe we won't spunk £10m on a glob but with wilder in charge I trust his judgement with whoever he recruits.

When our season ticket prices were announced they are now worried that we will average more than them next year so it has gone from attendances to gate receipts. Gay receipts are the new attaendance debates, get ready for it next year if we start to get more than them "arrr but how much did you make in gate receipts". I'm loving their flapping.

I went to the PNE v Forest game today, and both sides were better than anything we've faced this season.

Of this season's opponents, Fleetwood were rock solid at the back and highly professional, but had little to offer going forward. Bolton were very ordinary against us, and Scunny were fortunate not be embarrassed by half time. Southend played us before we got going, Charlton couldn't sustain their performance, and Walsall simply don't count.

So compared to that lot....

After a ropey first ten minutes, Forest were remarkably good. They played a passing game from front to back, with David Vaughan dictating from deep midfield. The front three of Assombalonga (big, quick, strong and finished his chance well), the youngster Brereton (raw but could become a beast of a player), and Zac Clough (glad he left Bolton), threatened to tear PNE apart. The only clue as to why they're relegation threatened was an inability to press home the advantage, and a predictably nervous retreat when PNE got their act together.

PNE are a hugely committed team that punches above its bank balance. They lack a couple of star players to take them in playoff contention, but you have to respect what Grayson has done there. They even play a bit of football these days too.

Man for man, we probably have more ball playing talent than PNE, but we lack their power, pace and defensive strength. Compared to Forest, we've nothing to match Assombalonga, and they have a softness at the heart of their defence which isn't too dissimilar to hours.

So based on one live game, I'd say next season* will be a real challenge, but one to be relished, especially if we recruit well. What we'll find is that every team in that league has the ability to excel on a given day, so a capacity to bounce back from bad results will be vital, as will the resilience to hang on in there when our opponents are on top in games. The latter is something we don't do that well at the moment and will need to improve upon.

A couple of quality signings at both ends of the pitch, plus a few tactical tweaks, and we've got nothing to fear and everything to look forward to.

* if all goes well, blah blah....

Cap well and truly doffed sir.

Gay receipts?

Im expecting it to be tough because we cant forget that there are teams with higher budgets in 2017 championship that we faced in premier league. I found a stat in last 30 years sheff utd have spent £50m on players transfer fees, Newcastle & Aston villa have both spent more than that this season

We can all optimstically use Barnsley as benchmark & i believe that we could get close to them as it will be night to watch a home game were the away team doesnt park the bus as now its 1 or 2 a season were away team comes for a game of football. But also last yr L1 title winners are coming straight back down. Genuinely id consider 16th/17th, taking 4pts off Wednesday next season & run to the 5th rd or Quarter finals of FA Cup a successful season next season

The hidden section on Owlstalk is page after page of them telling each other how amazing the Championship is, how poor League One is this season and how we are going to get battered without SERIOUS investment.

Meanwhile the club that finished 6th in League One last season today outplayed them and despite selling their best players in January sit comfortably in mid table . This follows on from the unbelievablely average Burton team of last season taking 4 points off them with a squad that cost about £3:68. Burton too look set to be a Championship club again next season.

Only Wigan , a club who have had 3 rookie managers in charge this season and are ran by an 8 year old, are really struggling.

It's going to be tough next season for sure and we will likely lose more than we win but the only people who will have us as certs to go down will be Wednesday fans who are lying to themselves.

Last season Wednesday finished 6th,15 points,5 wins behind Brighton who they beat in the play off semi final, this on it's own was a complete travesty. It was sickening to hear the little piggies squeals when they quite rightly lost the play-off final to Hull, who finished 4th,9 points ahead of the oinkers, they have made no progress this year and squandered £millions on very average players. We may well find things difficult next year in the championship, but you never know where momentum can take you....we have history and class !!

Yes the Championship is a tough league and will be a big step up for our players but we have a good group that provide a solid foundation. I'm under no illusions that we will have to strengthen and give our team time to bed in.

It's a harder league than when we last played in it. Full of quality and with lots of money floating around. We will need to buy well and use all of the spirit and togetherness we have to compete. I'm confident that we can do that.

For now it's about getting over the line and getting promoted. After that I'm only hoping for consolidation at the next level and to be competitive in every game. I demand nothing more and neither should any of our supporters.

It will be tough but I don't need a condescending pig to tell me that. The amount of time it's taken them to look anything like a decent side tells me all I need to know.

  • The championship will be a tramstop on the way to the preimerleague choooooooooooooooo

One of my friends is a really ardent Fowl, always wanting to poke about us in our failing seasons but has landed a job as a carer for an autistic lad and gets to take him to every United home game. I was astounded when he turned round to me the other day and said 'My god, you lot play some effing good football, it sickens me to admit it but they've impressed me so much I'm jealous and I couldn't not tell you'. Never had a good word to say about us in thirty years. That really brought it home to me how good we are and it was a real good feeling to hear it said by such a big Fowl.

Fact is. We don't know how good the championship is. They don't know how good League 1 is. They don't know how good we play either.

Wilder and Knill are paid to know though and I'm sure they already have eyes on players required.

Next season is all about survival, that has to be the target - I'm sure we will finish well clear of the drop zone though.

United are not going to spend big. You don't need to. For every £x million you spend on a player, who often turns out to be a lemon, there's a Currie or Deane lurking in the lower leagues available for £x thousand. You just need a scout with the eye to spot them and a manager with the nous to develop them. We are, and always will be in the second category. It's just that every now and again we have the right manager and back up team to do something with whats available. Now is one of those times. Get your seat belts on folks and enjoy the ride!

This team reminds me a bit of the Bournemouth team; we all know what they did. If memory serves me right, they had a couple of players who had been with them from their fourth division days. Wilder builds teams. A good team will always beat a group of good/v good players. We will know how good we are after ten games next season. I believe we might surprise a few so called experts. The above does assume we are going up. I'm a wobblearsescaredycatpessemisttwat by the way.

Spending big is the very thing that has fucked them over this season. Last season they had a narrow wage structure and a unified motivated team, this time around it's a two tier wage structure where a chosen few earn big big wages and the rest are left seething.

Getting away from the bias involved, Porkers are looking at things through the jaded perspective of their failing season.

I mean, they've spent enormous sums & they still can't properly compete at the very top. Leeds & even Hudders have overtook them, Preston and Barnsley aren't far behind. Worst of all, the pigs' last-season feelgood factor has evaporated, & they're flailing around, looking for reasons as to what's gone wrong.

One of those reasons "must" be that the standard is so much better now...

And they comfort themselves with that "fact" in thinking we'll inevitably go straight back down while they'll have to battle heroically with the rising tide of excellence in the division, by raising their admission prices more & more, & keeping on buying these "superstar" missing links. It's the only possible way. Just ask Huddersfield (& Preston)...

It's going to be tougher next season. Most of the 'crazy owner' clubs have managed to find decent managers; Cardiff, Forest, Wolves, Villa should all do better than they have this season. Plus Norwich will still be on full parachute payments, as will the three that come down. If the pigs don't go up this season, they'll struggle to make top six again.

At the bottom, they'll be whoever survives out of Bristol City, Burton and Blackburn, one of the teams that go up, possibly Brum if they don't wise up and some randoms who just don't get off to a good start, someone like QPR, Brentford or Ipswich. And probably a 'surprise' some club that just collapses. We should be able to finish above that lot.

They're like a set of Dorothys from The Wizard of Oz.

If they huddle together and say the same thing over and over again and then tap their ruby trotters thrice, it must be true and the hurt will go away.

I know they're scared. Let's face it barring the biggest fluke in football gets them up, they'll have wasted 6 years and we'll be back in their faces with a manager who scares the crap out of them. Even allowing for that though, some of them have really showed themselves up to be humerless mardy twats.

I've been chastised for creating a thread which shows the inner torment they are suffering - an insight into the truth of being a pig-fan right now rather than the rhetoric; why is this thread any different - it's so-called "Pork-talk" which is (apparently) banned on this forum.

If one more of their shitcunt fans says to me WAWAW.........fuck off you odious, deluded, full of shit arseholes. Bit of a rant I know but they really, really get on my fucking tits.

Lovely stuff mate, lovely stuff.

What the fuck have we got to do with the Barnsley clubs!?

In the last ten seasons more teams have gone straight up to the premier league having been promoted from league one the previous season than promoted teams dropping straight back down to league one. Can't remember where I heard it (possibly on here)?

Momentum counts for a lot in football and I genuinely feel even without strengthening we will be in little danger of relegation wth tufty at the helm.

I think it is quite funny how non of those fans say " but it won't matter to us because we'll be in the Premiership. Mind you we don't know how hard it'll be in there". Just read between the lines and it is quite simple. They do not believe they will go up. They know we will and the thought of us out doing them after them spending all that time in the Championship is too much to bare.

Agreed. "Championship in for a big shock" when Chris lets loose his wizards on that sorry excuse for a Premiership 2 division (that's according to the pigs)

And no, the Championship is no higher a standard than it was 5 years ago. All that's changed are the valuations have risen for the same players. EG Rhodes

Transfer fees have gone up. Standard remains the same imo

Championship "in for a big shock"
No doubt the league thought they got rid off us lot forever, we're coming back. A few years later then expected but we're coming back!

I suggest you ask the moderators but my guess is that this thread is about whether Sheffield United will struggle in the championship (as predicted by the pigs) or not. It's not about the pigs per se.
