I love it that someone's veiw of our upcoming season is based on the fact that he probably got battered 20 years ago .
And Blackpool!!! We know what we are and it isn't a " big " club but even in our darkest hour we still get attendances and local interest in our team that you can only dream of in your Stanley Matthews pyjamas
 
I just don't get the Hull thing. It's about 50 years since we pipped Ken Wagstaff to promotion, so long ago that we got on buses at the back. Is it really about that, or summat else? I have no problem with Hull, the football club or the city, but their dislike of us is just weird. I have a really good mate from Hull who's a top bloke and a bit of a closet Blade, having lived in Sharrow for about 40 years. Having said that, he's a fan of Hull's proper game, the 13 a side one. He thinks that Hull "doesn't really do" football as we know it, and the modern City fans are pretty plastic. They can't be arsed to get a train to Leeds. Or Donny.

Would normally agree, it's classic blade fan mentality to low ball our expectations and we've never been a Billy big bollox fanbase that says "piss the league" unlike our 3rd rate neighbours..

But (you knew this was coming) I'm full of optimism, the team is probably the best we've started a season with for years, possibly ever, and we haven't sold anybody up to now, the negativity has gone to Glasgow and I expect to see smiles on the players faces again, fans getting behind them come rain or shine, and a good season..

Won't count my chickens either but we shouldn't struggle in this division with what we have, let's see a new manager get these players playing, and see if they're better than we think with a different approach, I personally think it'll take a few games to settle before the team begin to get into it..

I will be giving the man plenty of slack because I believe he'll get us going soon enough, we know they can play great on the deck from CW days, I can't see a problem..
 
Hull City are like a smelly tramp who won the lottery before spunking it all on booze and parties only to end up sleeping in a cardboard box again.

You just have to laugh at them. Bitter doesn't even start to describe them. Living in East Yorkshire, I love winding them up, it's almost too easy. Just mention that Paddy Kenny is your favourite Blades player, it always does the trick. 🤣

Great to have you back Roygbiv good to see we have ticked off a few "over performed, think we will beat those and not good to watch clichés."

Final question, are Blackpool the new Hull City?
 
A lot seem to like to moan about parachute payments..I hope they want their teams to finish outside the top 6 to avoid this situation happening to them...

Hull can't stand Leeds. They consider Leeds to be their biggest rivals. We barely register by comparison.

It's all a bit tragic because while there no love lost, Leeds really don't give a fuck about Hull.

I guess thats why Hull try and manufacture rivalaries against the other Yorkshire teams? They're desperate to be relevent to someone ("anyone?, please???").

The bizzare thing is the vast number of Leeds fans in East Yorkshire. They thump the badge and march on together apart from City's spells in the Prem when they thump thier chests and say home town club.

Inbreeding is a major problem in Hull. When you think about it, it's 100 miles to anywhere else.
They also have a street named' IN THE LAND OF GREEN GINGER'. wtf, it's true I tell ya. Poor sods.
 
As for Barnsley fans, the well balanced and knowledgeable Dingles can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Can't feel bad for a group of supporters who found that "rawr" tiger shit as a footballing thing to do. It was embarrassing and made me really wish administration upon their football club.

I'm confident about this season, but thinking about it, I'm not sure why. The Utd team last season were pathetic, and the worst I can remember. I've never not wanted to watch the games before, and last season really tested that.

Despite how terrible we were to watch, to date we have made only one change, the manager.

I'm still confident we will get automatic promotion though. It's bizarre when I think about it. 😂😂😂. I think it comes from effectively having a Championship team playing in the EPL last season, and this squad is the same one, so surely they'll be good in the Championship. Right??

What we all need to do is support the club, and give SJ some breathing space. He's inherited a squad bereft of confidence, who hardly scored a goal last season, has made minor changes to this squad, and had the weirdest pre-season ever, and we are expecting him to transform them into a free scoring team with a cavalier style of play. Hope he does it, but it'll be quite something to achieve this turnaround quickly, given the background to this season.

Despite all this, I fancy us. Perhaps I'm deluded???

That's the ground where you got off the train from Sheffield at Hull Station & got on a train that drops you off at the station at the ground, and where their thugs were waiting to pick off individual blades fans as they walked from the train direct to the turnstile.
