This one is really simple for me, all Celtic and Rangers social media followings are genuine fans of the clubs from all around the world. Reason being it is a shit league, the league doesn’t have a worldwide profile and in turn doesn’t attract the millions of social media fans from China, Indonesia, India etc etc.. kids in these country’s have probably not even heard of the clubs.if Celtic and Rangers are as big as people keep telling us, why isn't this reflected in one of the few metrics we can actually quantity; social media followers?
Now put them both into the EPL and watch their social media followings sky rocket.
For example, little Bournemouth.. if you watch YouTube a lot of football highlights and sky sports highlights you get recommended videos to watch, Bournemouths official channel popped up the other day with a couple of minutes highlights against Forest, I noticed it had 500k views in 24 hours and I was shocked when I saw that, just checked now and it’s now over 650k in a few days.
In this same period of time Uniteds channels highlights against Hull has 26k views. 650k v 26k, anyone would think that one club is over 20x bigger than the other club going on YouTube views, are Bournemouth 20x bigger than United? Of course not, the views are not for Bournemouth but for the EPL, mainly from Asia who are EPL crazy.
So my point is, if you had genuine fans of club following them on social media only, and not fans of the league they play in then Celtic and Rangers would be up there. Now because of the league they are in there is no interest in them apart from genuine fans, stick them in the EPL and the millions and millions watching them around the world and watch the social media followers and views go through the roof.
