IF we're looking at defensive-midfielders, Jackson Irvine at Ross County has impressed me this last season.
Though I can understand any reservations.

Obviously some of these players have championship offers but they can't all be going to bloody Brentford.
Maybe if Wilder can convince Duffy to come ahead of championship suitors we have a remote chance of signing any of these.
They are arguably the stars of league 1 and it seems odd that so many are out of contract and available when we have huge holes in the midfield. Lucky us eh?

Romain Sawyers? You guys realise he isn't a centre midfielder at Walsall, for as long as I can remember he's played behind the lone forward in the No.10 role. That is the role he is most comfortable at.

Gilbey and Carey are players I'd really like us to go for, although I also hope we sign Chris Taylor.
Wilder spoke about midfielders being able to do everything and that's what sort of player Gilbey seems to be, a real all rounder. It might be hard to get him but I hope we at least go in there with a good offer with the promise of first team football he might not be guaranteed in the Championship.
Carey could be the left footer Wilder said he wants - and he can play centrally.
If we have got a bit of money to spend, I'd rather us avoid spending it on positions we don't have to, like CB for example where there seems to be a lot of decent players out of contract. Instead we should save it for a position where there are less obvious options, like central midfield. This way we might be able to afford someone like Yaser Kasim, who would be a real key player. There doesn't seem to be any concrete Championship interest in him.

He's out of contract but they have offered him new terms, said to be weighing up his options.
