I offered my opinions as a Wednesday fan who has seen him play a lot and it was nothing like the above. I was just insulted though despite being friendly and respectful

Sorry, I didn't see your post, my message was a joke,
I don't look at any Wendy forums but I bet I'm not far off with my comments, I even heard two of your mob saying similar stuff Sunday evening, Like you're too big for Gary Madine

Many many many of your fellow fans are mentally ill, and that is no joke, I mean it, they are mentally ill

it was in the main madine thread. My mate who is a blade text me to say you were signing Madine so I had a quick look on here to see what the opinion was as obviously it was a bit controversial. Maybe I picked the wrong time to give my opinion on him seeing as there was a bit of ill feeling at the time.

Anyway, as a player for us I always rated him and strangely there didn't seem to be any sign of attitude problems on the pitch or in the dressing room. Off the pitch has been well covered but he has seemed to have kept his head down for a while now. He might find that harder being back in Sheffield as no doubt people will try and wind him up.

As a player for us I actually thought that he was better with the ball at his feet than in the air. That will probably suit your quick passing game to be honest. When we tried him as a target man he wasn't that good. He appeared quite weak but he seems to have filled out a bit now. For me his strength was always linking up play on the ground and he was a composed finisher. His goals seemed to come in waves. When he was confident he couldn't miss.

A lot of his goals for us were composed finishes. Be interesting who he is paired with for you lot. I don't think that Warnock's game will have suited him. He's not that great at direct football.

I think he'll do well to be honest.

What do you care ? Go on your own board and talk crackling and apple sauce to each other, by the way mind the gap

He's openly admitted he's an Owl (unlike some others who clearly hide behind misleading usernames) and has provided a polite, well written, honest appraisal of a player we've just signed about whom he knows more than any of us. Why the abuse? Thanks SWFC Fan , much appreciated.

Bit of a mixed bag, still doesn’t change that his scoring record is atrocious and we need goals.
I can't possibly imagine how the lad is going to score more goals for us than he's managed to get for Bolton and Cardiff given their propensity for attacking football compared to our lack of adventure.
Still - we can but hope.............

To me it seems, and from the perspective of seeing him play us at the Lane last season for Bolton and being a nightmare for our defence. I think it's a good signing on paper, Billy seems to be happy with it which surely is the main issue most fans have with him? (Playing for Wednesday aside). He doesn't seem to have had much of a go at Cardiff, and it's probably a tough situation for any striker. I did laugh at his signing photo on twitter and the site though, he looked thrilled...

I’m quite happy to be honest, the past is the past.
I also think after the shit performance the other day we will come out as strong as ever on Saturday.
There’s two sides to every argument and the main one for me with us losing, is the fans have paid to watch Sheffield United.
My other argument is that if we keep going as strong as we have been as a team up until Barnet, we won’t be far away, I’ll take playoffs but I think we are the best team in the division on our day.
Welcome Gary Madine Lets all stick together see how far we can go. UTB FTP

I'm glad to hear he's not an out and out bruising centre forward because I don't think that will suit us at all
And I hope he isn't going to be used as a last 15 minute, alternative option type of sub because if that happens he might never achieve anything with us.

I'm sure he'll be paired up with Sharp because I can't see Sharp being dropped, and either Duffy or McGoldrick sharing the number 10 role behind them.

We'll wait and see how he performs, but Sheffield might be uncomfortable for him and I'm sure his "previous" temper will be tested to the limit if he still the type that wants to pop out for a pint or six. He's likely to get stick from both sides until he gets a few good performances under his belt, If he then starts to perform well for United he's going too get stick from Wendies, if he performs badly the United fans anger will escalate even further

It's fine, I expected a bit of abuse by posting on a rival's forum. Obviously I'm not going to be given the warmest of welcomes.
Pylmouthblade - no worries. We all have bad days. I've had a bad season :)

Cheer up, it could get worse, you might be homeless when Chansiri sells the Rustadome.

He won’t be the focal point like at Bolton, granted he can’t score less than he did at Cardiff

Thanks for the honest appraisal SWFC Fan. I'm just about over signing Mr Madine, it's not easy when your club signs an ex-talisman of your closest rivals, and someone with history to boot! Fair play to you for coming on here too!

I don't see it as an ex piggy talisman, I don't think he was anything special for them. I just see it as he's a full weight cock.

Honestly? I hope he does fuck all and buggers off.

I understand fully not wanting him, but hoping anyone that plays for our club to do badly is pretty ridiculous.

I can't stand the bloke, but if he puts in the performances it only improves our hopes of promotion, so I for one hope he scores 30!

You have to remember at every club there is always a percentage of fans that cannot abide target men strikers. We've got them on this site, slate them to high heaven when we sign them, then go missing once the said striker starts having an effective influence on the side and results. I remember plenty slating the signing of Shipperley in the 05/06 promotion season then didn't here a pip from them for the rest of the season.

Thanks for your honesty at least. The price of that might be lost points and missing out on promotion to the Prem and multi-millions lost in the process, but I suppose for you and others of like-mind that would be a price worth paying. It will be what Wendy fans want too - you could celebrate together over a few pints.

It’s more likely that they will celebrate the signing with you over a few pints.

After blasting his 2nd goal in for us today, I'm sure that - along with the rest of us - Gary Madine shares your pain:

He’s a prick and he’s shite!

I'm amazed any Cardiff fans praised him to be honest considering he cost £6m and scored no goals!

Bit of a mixed bag, still doesn’t change that his scoring record is atrocious and we need goals.

The comment of him not suiting a Neil Warnock team is scary, definitely won’t suit us then.

We don’t need a non goal scorer ( although I understand there is times where you can) we need someone to bang em in themselves.

Unless there’s an injury I can’t see him playing more than 15 - 20 minutes at the end of the game and then only if the opposition have parked the bus and we need to cause some bollocks.

I can't believe I'll be paying money to look at his face

He won’t be the focal point like at Bolton, granted he can’t score less than he did at Cardiff

Honestly? I hope he does fuck all and buggers off.

I still can't believe this has happened

AND THE PRIZE FOR THE MOST CRASS COMMENT GOES TO:
BLADEINIRELAND!!!

2 goals and 2 assists

A target man was just what we needed. We're almost unstoppable now.

Sit-back and defend, we'll play through you.
Apply pressure and we'll exploit gaps by being more direct.

Very reminiscent of the James Hanson signing and how that fired us to promotion in LG1. Only Gary Madine is twice as good.

Listening to the crowd applause as he was subbed off would seem to indicate he has already been welcomed to the Blade fold.

I sat here for a few hours thinking about this and I came to the honest conclusion:

I would rather have him on the inside of the tent pissing out than on the outside of the tent pissing in!

Just tried to look at this Cardiff forums to see if they've said owt about him bagging a brace today, fuck me what a state they are.

All of the forums.

No sections, general chat mixed with football, everyone's obsessed with that pregnant ISIS woman, can't find owt.

Gave up, tried 3 different forums. I'll leave it to the pros I think and just thank Foxy for the forum and Roy for his View Froms.

One thing we need to learn for the future about anything Sheffield United.

These opposition fans are welcome to their opinions as are ours but at the end of the day these players are about to be managed and coached by Chris Wilder, Alan Knill and the rest of the management team.

So let's take all these opinions with a huge dollop of salt 'cos these guys can turn them into world beaters.

It's happened far too many times to be a coincidence.
